Trump Poised to Increase Tariff on EU-Made Autos to 25%

President Trump in a Truth Social post on Friday, May 1, announced that a tariff on automobiles manufactured and imported from the European Union into the U.S. will increase to 25%, adding that he is imposing this tariff increase “based on the fact the European Union is not complying with our fully agreed to Trade Deal, next week.”

He added in the post that, “It is fully understood and agreed that, if they produce Cars and Trucks in U.S.A. Plants, there will be NO TARIFF.”

The NCBFAA Customs Committee and Counsel of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., will monitor this planned EU auto tariff increase and provide updates, including Customs and Border Protection (CBP) guidance, to our customs broker members as soon as available.
