George Washington:

"However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

++  Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee are asking the Justice Department to appoint a second special counsel,  this one to investigate Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
The Republicans are also questioning why the Justice Department did not impanel a grand jury to look into the mishandling of classified information. They also want to look into Comey's recent claim that he was ordered by Lynch to publicly refer to the Clinton email probe as a "matter" instead of an investigation. More     (Thanks, Randy)

++ ACA repeal/reform not over yet!  President Trump:
"After seven
years of 'talking' Repea
l & Replace, the people of our great country are still being forced to live with i
mploding ObamaCare!" Trump tweeted. "If a new HealthCare Bill is not approved quickly, BAILOUTS for Insurance Companies and BAILOUTS for Members of Congress will end very soon!"

++ "The president will not accept those who said it's, quote, 'Time to move on,'" White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said.
For seven years, Republicans have promised that once they took power, they would scrap Obama's overhaul and pass a replacement. But that effort crashed most recently in the Senate Friday.
Republicans hold a 52-48 majority in the Senate, where no Democrats voted for the GOP bill and three Republicans defected in the final vote Friday. One of the GOP defectors, Sen. John McCain, has since returned to Arizona for treatment for brain cancer. "Don't give up Republican senators, the World is watching: Repeal & Replace," Trump said in a tweet. More

The Senate vote was a breach of faith to Republican grass roots who worked hard to deliver the House, then the Senate, then the White House, believing a Party that promised repeal in the last four elections.

++ Priebus OUT, Kelly IN as White House Chief of Staff - Opinion - COS is the key Administration staff position, typically the closest official to the President with cabinet rank but the added power to command staff, agenda and calendars.
From the beginning Reince Priebus was an odd duck as COS without the typical full portfolio, with others on staff at least as powerful and more influential in policy and political matters, and without even control of the President's schedule. Many other chiefs of staff have "ivory towered" presidents, controlling access and the information the President sees. Priebus never had that clout. THIS President has his own sources and contacts, and is comfortable pulling his own media triggers. Priebus became a prop, and a weak one at that. The lack of strength from COS led to leaks, confusion, and appearances of no discipline and planning. He was never a confident or good fit.  Helter-skelter is over!
Four Star Marine General John Kelly takes over. A real man with real accomplishments - one who makes plans and implements them. He straightened out a huge Homeland Security mess - the largest Cabinet portfolio, the same think needed now at the White House.
Kelly's military experience and credibility might also straighten out a schizophrenic and disobedient chain of command crippled by eight years of military command purges by the Obama administrations, and imbedment of saboteurs throughout the government.

++  The move follows months of speculation that Priebus was not long for the job,  w hich grew to a fever pitch when Trump took on rival Anthony Scaramucci as his communications director last week. Priebus successfully convinced Trump not to give Scaramucci a role in his administration in January.  The president has grown obsessed in recent months with White House information leaking into the press, and Scaramucci is convinced Priebus has been responsible. The new comm director viciously attacked Priebus, calling him "a f--ing paranoid schizophrenic"...
Kelly is the former commander of the U.S. Southern Command. As Secretary of Homeland Security, he has ferociously advocated for Trump's agenda, most notably by  a dvocating for the complete construction   of the U.S.-Mexican border wall within two years.    More

++ Trump/Jackson Anti-Establishment similarities continue to grow -
  • He is perhaps the richest president in American history.
  • He is cantankerous, unpredictable, disruptive.
  • He hates the media and is openly at war with them. Meanwhile, the media have begun to attack his own family. He is secretly trying to buy his own media properties with plans to fight back.
  • He is at war with the Senate, including members from his own party. They retaliate by blocking some of his appointments.
  • He can't trust his own cabinet, who he accuses of undermining him. This includes some of his most loyal, original supporters.
  • Behind it all is his campaign to "drain the swamp" and end what he sees as insider corruption, using the government to line their pockets.
  • I am speaking, of course, about Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States.   Article  (Thanks, James)
++ Scarmucci in - no, he's out! Removed as White House Comunication Director  Link

The decision to remove Mr. Scaramucci became public as Mr. Kelly, who replaced Mr. Priebus as the top adviser in the White House, began his first day in charge of the White House staff. He told aides gathered in early-morning staff meetings that he intended to impose a new sense of order and operational discipline that had been absent under his predecessor.   Link  (Thanks, Marcy)

++ Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Thursday that President Donald Trump's criticisms of him were "hurtful," but he is determined to stay in his post.    "...the president of the United States is a strong leader," Sessions said. ++ FBI General Counsel Allegedly Under Investigation for Leaks
The website Circa attributed its information to "multiple government officials close to the probe." The officials spoke on the condition they not be identified.  B aker is said to be close with former FBI Director James Comey, and according to the website, recent media reports suggested he was advising the then-FBI director on legal matters after private meetings Comey had with President Donald Trump earlier this year. More

The Tenets of Great Education
We believe it is the privilege and responsibility of the parent to ensure their child is being properly educated and prepared for a productive, fulfilling, life, within our capitalistic constitutional republic.
We defend public education as a legitimate function of LOCAL government.
We believe there is a legitimate role of the State Government in limited oversight duties of local public education, to ensure proper fiduciary attention and a consistency in adhering to any proper State law.
We reject the idea that the Federal Government has - or was intended to have - a role in determining when, how, or what students are to learn. Furthermore, we reject the idea that the Federal Government has been given the constitutional power to return the tax dollars to the citizens with educational mandates attached that impact the learning environment of any local institution.
A finding of the MCU Education Task Force Phase IV

Plank #1 Curriculum -

What is taught within the community school must be Parent Driven. Each educational institution has a responsibility to ensure its students can read with a competent command of the English language.

Excluding those with severe learning disabilities, every child must master the ability to read and comprehend that which they read. Reading and comprehension is the key - ABOVE ALL ELSE - to a strong probability of a productive, fulfilling, life. A child must not progress through grade levels without mastering grade appropriate reading goals.

Regarding reading materials, no reading materials shall be assigned that are of a sexual nature, or disparaging to the ideals of capitalism, or the ideals of a limited government created to protect the natural rights of life, liberty, and property, WITHOUT the approval of the child's parent or guardian. Adhering to the first tenet, it is up to the parent if, when, or whether or not, they wish for their child to be subjected to materials which may undermine the parent's role in educating their children about such matters. Furthermore, no reading materials shall be placed on an "acceptable reading list" without labeling the materials in a similar manner to the practices of labeling video games, musical lyrics, movies or television programs.
Regarding civics, students must be given an historically accurat e account of the founding of the country and the resulting constitution, the commanding role of the states as intended, the adherence to capitalism, and an accurate depiction of the struggle to ensure that all individuals - regardless of their race - were made to be free to participate in our American system of capitalism and the government process that protects this system. Economics must be taught in relation to the role of government, including the impact of taxation (fiscal policy) and the roles of the State and federal government in driving monetary policy. Personal finance and an understanding of the importance of saving and the responsibility of self-reliance must be instilled in each child.
Beyond the foundation of reading and an accurate understanding of the empowerment of citizenship and finance, local school districts - under the charge of a local board with the input of parents - must be able to choose a curriculum that reflects the desires of the community served.

Rep.  Shane Hernandez  I'm at a political conference in Texas with legislators from all over the country and I just heard one rep ask another what they do for a living (as in right now....while serving in office)! Funny question to hear when you live in Michigan. I look forward to asking more of these legislators about the structure of their state legislature.

Hospital Inflation!
The piggy practices are unconscionable!
Many hospitals pay no taxes - no property taxes, no income taxes, no sales taxes. It is part of an understanding for decades, that the tax savings will cover indigent patients.
Thus, the poor were receiving health care long before ACA and socialized medicine.
Of course, many hospitals disengenously complained, as they stuck it to paying customers with $50 aspirins and $1,000 "wraps."
Now they triple-dip with bloated Medicaid Expansion.
Just bend over!

++ Checks and Balances: How the 17th Amendment altered legislative responsibility -  The Seventeenth Amendment because it altered the political process of the way we elect senators. The biggest problem with this amendment is that it trades out stability in our political system for bigger, faster change  which is the opposite of what the founders intended.
Representatives were elected by districts. The representatives would then elect the two senators who would represent them, and the state, in the upper house. It is important to note that another key aspect of this system provided accountability for the senators. If at any time the representatives felt a senator was not representing the state's interests, the representatives had the ability to impeach and replace them.
The original way that our senators were elected was far more stable than it is now. The point of electing senators this way was to not force the legislature to bow to the ever-changing minds of the general populous. The population was meant to be represented by representatives and for representatives to choose senators who would represent the state with due diligence.
The Seventeenth Amendment came about when progressivism and populism were the new popular political ideologies of the time. Woodrow Wilson passed the Seventeenth Amendment in 1913, but Wilson's administration was also the closest thing to fascism America has ever seen. It is therefore also fitting that Wilson is also regarded as the father to progressivism. MORE
