Windham Parks and Recreation wants to thank you for participating in our 7th annual Trunk or Treat event! We are looking forward to a great event that will be fun for the whole family! Here are a few key details to keep in mind for Saturday night:

  • This is a rain or shine event, and it does look like the weather forecast for Saturday night is favorable at this time. Each trunk will have at least a 10-ft wide space.
  • The Trunk-or-Treat event will be held from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Trunk hosts can begin arriving at 4:00 p.m. to set up, and you must be at the site by 5:00 p.m. in order to participate.
  • Please check in with the Parks & Rec staff at the parking lot entrance on the Reny’s end of the building, and we will direct you to your parking space for the evening. Please click here to review the map for entrance and exits.
  • ALL trick-or-treaters will be pre-registered; we anticipate approximately 300-350 children over the course of the 2 and a half hours, but final participant numbers will be available by Friday.
  • We encourage you to consider whether you may be able to offer alternative treats for children with allergens; suggestions for allergy-friendly options may be found by clicking here. For those who are able to bring an allergy-friendly option, we will provide you with a sign to post on your trunk at check-in.
  • Windham Parks and Recreation will provide some candy to each trunk to supplement what hosts provide.
  • It can be windy in the back mall parking lot, so plan accordingly. (Warm clothes, sandbags for tent, weighted décor, etc.)
  • Please help us keep the flow of traffic moving by discouraging overly long conversations. Feel free to admire the kids' costumes and say hello to friends and neighbors, but with up to 200 vehicles we know that this will work best if the interactions at each trunk are brief.
  • As always, we ask that there be no pets to comply with the town policy for public events.
  • Your trunk will be judged using a rubric that includes creativity/originality, attention to detail, execution of theme, costumes, and interaction with children. Prizes will awarded to the best business, community organization and family trunks, which will be announced by 7:30 p.m.
  • We do ask all trunks to remain parked and open until the event ends at 8:00 p.m. in order to insure that all participants are able to visit all the trunks.
