April 22, 2020

The Truro Golf Club would like to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to everyone affected by the weekend's tragic events. To honor the victims, their families and loved ones, the TGC would like to invite anyone wishing to put a Nova Scotia flag, tartan or blue scarf on the fence along Golf Street, to please do so.

For anyone having a difficult time dealing with this tragic event, or the stresses of COVID-19, please know that there are resources available to you through the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.

The TGC Board has been continuing to discuss COVID-19 via regular telephone conference calls and email and have formed a COVID-19 sub-committee consisting of the following members: Bill Harvey (Chair), Allan Wolfe, Shelly Atkinson, Richard Cook, Roy Gouthro, Eric Albert, Michelle Smith, Caralynn Cullen & Stuart Cox.

he Board has approved a motion to cancel all tournaments and banquets up to and including July 5th. This will include the Opening Mixer, Annual Ladies June Bug Classic, Men's Invitational, and Mixed Pinehurst, several banquet bookings and corporate bookings. Based on our schedule and rescheduling limitations, these club tournaments will not be rescheduled for this year. We would like to thank the sponsors of these events for their continued support over the years and will look forward to a continued partnership in 2021.

The COVID-19 sub-committee will be discussing how to make other activities continue given the circumstances and will share these with the Board for approval and then share with the membership. If you have a question or concern you can reach out to one of these individuals. In the meantime we will be discussing how the TGC will plan to move forward while dealing with and overcoming probable challenges that will come with COVID-19.

On the course, Caralynn and a limited crew are continuing to prepare the course for play. Cart paths are being leveled, a new path by #4 green has been cut, irrigation heads around tees and greens are being leveled, fairways and approaches are being widened and opened up (holes 9,10,11,14,15,16,17), along with other regular maintenance.
