A Note from our Executive Director

Dear friend,

"Me gustaría que la gente sienta confianza, inclusión, respeto y aceptación.”

“I would like people to feel trust, inclusion, respect and acceptance.”

We asked our community, “what do you wish people will feel about IVYP” as part of our name change survey. The responses have been so gratifying. Since launching our name change survey, we have heard from 95 individuals, including clients, students, employees, community members, community leaders, partners and donors. It’s not too late if you’d like to weigh in!
You can find the survey here.

Our name change steering committee has begun to make sense of what we’ve heard from all of you. Here’s what one committee member said: “It’s so uniformly celebratory and positive. Themes like safety and security are overlaid with…. Joy. But in addition to happiness, … there are real bedrock things like trust and value and safety. Thing that are not fun, but they make people feel comfortable….homey….. It’s a lot of different things that add up to being a very welcoming and loving place.”

I invite you to see all the survey responses. They can be found here.

We’ve begun to generate some good ideas. Let me know if you’d like to hear what we’re considering, or if you have a great idea.

IVYP Vaccine Clinics Made a Huge Impact

In partnership with Cottage Hospital, IVYP's Family Resource Center has been hosting monthly vaccine clinics since September 2022. To date we’ve helped to distribute over 2,000 vaccines to community members, including children 5-12 years old. We’ve been able to get over 200 children fully vaccinated with 2 doses. And over 1,000 adults fully vaccinated with a booster. Thank you to our incredible FRC staff, volunteers, and Cottage Hospital for partnering for this astounding impact!

Harvest of the Month

Each month we share a healthy, easy and affordable recipe to try that highlights ingredients you can get at our food distribution and free farm stand. This month we are highlighting blood oranges! Blood oranges are low in calories but high in the fiber, vitamins, and minerals your body craves. And for pregnant people blood oranges contain several nutrients that are important during pregnancy. We love this recipe because it's packed full of flavor and very nutritious!

Get Involved with IVYP
IVYP needs your support as we work hard to support our community in the wake of COVID-19. We’ve stepped up and we need your help to continue. Please consider a donation to IVYP’s COVID-19 Response Fund to help us continue to provide the caring, proactive and flexible support our community needs.
Be a diaper champion by sponsoring the cost of diapers for local families. Diapers are one of the most consistent requests from our families at our FRC. Disposable diapers can cost as much as $100 per month per baby so every contribution makes a big difference.
Did you know that many of our most vulnerable students don’t have a dedicated place at home to do their school work? IVYP will purchase and distribute folding desks to any GUSD student who has a need through our new Study Table Fund. To support this effort click here to donate.
