NEW Online Course! Collaborating With Other Professions To Benefit Youth and Families
By successfully working together with community partners, providers can create collaborative solutions to complex problems for the children and families they serve. This course will describe how families may interact with different professionals to receive comprehensive care, explain the reasons why collaborating with other professionals is important and beneficial to the provider and their families, explain the roles of the different professionals, and how to locate appropriate referrals to other professionals. Communities of Practice- Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment -In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. The New Normal: Returning to In-Person Services during COVID-19 - In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to share ideas and problem-solve strategies for returning to in-person services for group-based, home-based, and office-based parenting services. We will discuss recruitment, communication, and safety strategies for your staff and participants. Come prepared to share your agency’s ideas to help all programs successfully serve the community. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Date and time TBD.

Trust Office Closed December 24-31

The Children’s Trust family wishes everyone safe and happy holidays and our very best wishes for the New Year! Please note we will be closed December 24 through December 31, reopening January 3. The provider bulletin will resume on Wednesday, January 5.
As messaged in previous communications, those providers who submitted a November invoice by December 3, 2021, will receive a payment before the break. With the closure and our new Fiscal Module in Trust-Central, we are not able to guarantee a payment for those who missed the December 3 deadline. Payments will resume in January 2022.
Trust-funded providers, if your offices will be open December 24 through December 31, please feel free to continue submitting any outstanding invoices. However, we will not be reviewing or processing invoices and payments until our office re-opens on January 3. We will review any invoices submitted during this period upon our return.

Successfully Engaging Youth and Their Families into Services
|

Family is critical to a youth’s development and success, and providers can work with families to mobilize sources of support and resilience. In this Training and Implementation Associates (TIA) course, we show why engagement can be challenging, how to avoid blaming families for being “resistance”, and how to form a healthy working relationship. This online training course is available on Trust Academy and is appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Family Strengthening and Family and Neighborhood Support programs.

Count Me In: Discovering Inclusion for Kids - Learn fun, meaningful activities to do with your students to build their disability awareness, and encourage them to appreciate differences. This training helps develop Social-Emotional Skills for children.
Structures for Success - Youth both with and without disabilities can behave in challenging ways. Learn the seven basic needs youth exhibit and take away strategies for meeting these needs through positive, preventive approaches. This training is especially relevant to YEN and YAS Providers.

2022 Child Care Grants Program from the Women's Fund Miami-Dade

The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade is pleased to announce a 2022 grants program to advance solutions to overcome the challenges to a sustainable quality child care system. Fault lines in the child care system were revealed by the pandemic and your Women’s Fund is responding. A total of $200,000 over two years will be awarded and applications are open through January 14, 2022, grant recipients will be announced on February 28, 2022.

Aim High Grants to Help Middle Schoolers Prepare for Life
|
Since 2016, the New York Life Foundation has partnered with the Afterschool Alliance to administer the Aim High competitive grant program. The Aim High program is a part of the New York Life Foundation’s ongoing investment in out-of-school time programs to help underserved middle school students become better prepared for high school and beyond. This competitive grant program includes both one- and two-year grant opportunities.
Focus of this year's funding is as follows:
- One-Year Grants: supporting programs’ racial equity and social justice efforts.
- Two-Year Grants: supporting programs in enhancing direct service activities, technical assistance, capacity building, and their efforts in continuing to serve youth while facing the challenges of the pandemic and beyond.
To be eligible you must:
- Be a 501(c)(3). You will be required to verify your EIN as a part of the application.
- Serve Middle school youth (6th, 7th, 8th graders). This competitive grant program is targeted to programs serving middle school students in grades 6, 7 and 8.
- Serve a high percentage of low-income youth. Applicants must serve at least 75 percent low-income youth.
Applications are due at 5 p.m. EST, Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

FREE Parenting Norms Bumper Stickers
|
Advancing Parenting makes parenting norms bumper stickers available at no cost to schools, organizations, agencies, and businesses. There are fifty-two in a set and each sticker communicates a parenting behavior or practice generally recognized as supporting the healthy development of children. Just one will be read thousands of times!
Bumper stickers are a unique and powerful way for friends, family, and community members to share parenting wisdom. At stoplights drivers and passengers point, smile, and nod. Conversations begin and often a phone is used to take a photo of the sticker right at the stoplight. Presumably, they are being shared on social media. It's wonderful to see!
Sets of the stickers can be given away at events and/or put in holders and placed on counters so folks can select one for their cars. Visit www.advancingparenting.org to request this free resource and be placed on our waiting list.

Florida Reading Scholarships Available This School Year
|
In 2018, Florida became the first state to offer an education savings account program for students enrolled in public schools. The Reading Scholarship, administered by Step Up For Students, was created to help public school students in third through fifth grade who struggle with reading. The program offers parents access to education savings accounts, worth $500 each, to pay for tuition and fees related to part-time tutoring, summer and after-school literacy programs, instructional materials and curriculum related to reading or literacy.
Families may apply now for a Reading Scholarship for the 2021-22 school year. Starting this school year, families apply for (and manage their) Reading Scholarship Accounts through an online portal. Click the button below to get started or log in.

FIU Looking for Underrepresented Students for 6-Week Bridge Program
|
The Golden Scholars Program is an admissions pathway for selected first-generation, underrepresented students. Students selected to be Golden Scholars will participate in a holistic six-week residential summer bridge program that offers academic preparation, individualized advising, and personal attention from staff and peers. Students in the program will have the opportunity to sharpen their academic skills and develop a support network of students, faculty, and staff by becoming familiar with the FIU community and its vast resources.
Target Eligibility Criteria:
Have a minimum 3.0 high school weighted GPA
First-Generation College Student
Florida Resident
Have a minimum 18 ACT composite score or a 900 SAT composite score

The institute accepts most Medicaid HMO’s and has funding for children of low-income families who do not have insurance. ICFH also provides individual/family therapy and psychiatry services for adults who have Medicaid.

Data & Reporting Analyst
The Data & Reporting Analyst is responsible for designing, implementing and strengthening data collection tools, and managing and maintaining databases to assess the effectiveness of programming, and student and alumni development. Analyze outcomes data, and other relevant metrics, to provide insights, drive data-informed decision making, and develop unified reporting and analysis of all organizational activities. The Data & Reporting Analyst will lead a culture of continuous improvement, which will include professional development and training, and ongoing support to team members.
The individual in this role is organized, inquisitive and driven, with strong data and quantitative skills and experience with Salesforce.
