Trust Pays so far this school year has uncovered drugs sales, use of vape pens containing marijuana, thefts, and led to the removal of several guns on school campuses around the community…and one school bus.

Memphis joins a national trend

of cannabis-laced school vaping

Vape pens containing THC oil instead of tobacco is a growing problem around the nation. Here’s news out of Texas:

           “School officials in Texas are discovering that vape pens may be filled with THC oil instead of tobacco,” reports the Texas Tribune.

The newspaper reports that some school districts are installing “vape-detecting technology” — sensors around school campuses, and drug-sniffing dogs.

According to The New York Times. “With THC levels close to 100 percent, today’s cannabis products are making some teenagers highly dependent and dangerously ill.”

One teen the newspaper talked to was 14 years old when she started using THC in a vape pen.

She explained the vapor didn’t have an odor, which made it easy to hide from her parents. It was convenient, too: “just press a button and inhale.”

She said after a second or third try, she was hooked.
