Stay informed on Lake County's Buffalo Grove Road improvement project

The Lake County Divison of Transportaiton (LCDOT) is conducting a study for improvements on Buffalo Grove Road from IL 22 to US 45. LCDOT held a public information meeting this past May showing proposed improvements which included additional lanes, bike path and sidewalk connectivity and safety enhancements at the railroad crossing. After receiving a great deal of input, feedback, questions and concerns from the community, LCDOT is collecting new traffic data, analyzing recent crash data, and looking into other alternatives that address community concerns.

Those interested in staying updated on the project can find the latest progress here, and sign up to receive project updates in your e-mail inbox here.

Approach crossings with caution

Crossing traffic as a pedestrian, cyclist or the like is dangerous. Crosswalks are there to help. Crosswalks, highly regulated in everything from where they are installed, the type of striping used and any associated signage, are often located at intersections. Depending on the location, engineering studies may call for mid-block crossings to enhance overall safety, addressing factors like sight lines and space for a refuge island between lanes of traffic. Whether a motorist or pedestrian/cyclist, always exercise caution when approaching crossings.
