November 2018
Happy Holidays!

I am thrilled to return to the Trustee's Office and look forward to the good work that we will do.  We will continue to build strong community relationships, provide financial education and economic empowerment to thousands of Shelby County residents, and raise the bar in taxpayer services -- all while delivering our best efforts at both collections and investments year after year.

We appear to be on our way to  a tax collection surplus this year, placing the county in strong financial shape.   As of October 2018 - 4 months into the fiscal year -  the Trustee's Delinquent Tax Collections division has collected 47.28% of their projected goal for this entire fiscal year.  After being down in July and August, September collections were nearly $500,000 above projections.  Current year tax collections are also exceeding expectations and are 42% above where they were last year at the end of the first quarter.

Project H.O.M.E. workshops  for delinquent taxpayers have started back up this month and we will continue to have them each month going forward.  All dates can be found on our website.

Speaking of that website, the new site was launched on November 1st. Please take a look.

Please feel free to forward this email and all are encouraged to sign up for our email list at the link on the left.

Honored to serve,
Regina Morrison Newman

Better than 911?!?

In September, the Trustee's Office staff answered 99.4% of incoming calls within 20 seconds, a record for as long as records have been kept since 2010.  Better yet, in October, that record was broken and set again at 99.6%!
