Saved for good works not by good works

Greetings!

Welcome to August, the last month of Summer! My daughter’s softball team just competed in the Dixie Youth World Series Softball Tournament in Ruston, LA. They have won the state championship for three out of the last four years. As a proud mother I have to give a shout out to the team. They came up short, however, but still played their best.

Observing people during the tournament, I realized a number of things. There is not a lot of grace in competitive sports. These were 12-year-old girls, and expectations were high placed on them by their coaches and their parents. I being one of those parents. The mindset is that if we work hard enough, we should see a certain performance on the field. The world operates this way; however, Salvation is completely opposite.

Ephesians tells us, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.”

We understand that we are saved for good works not by good works. But even after salvation we depend on God in the works. We do the work, but we do the work in Him. Otherwise, we work in the flesh if the work is not in Him. Those works will not make it through the fire at the Judgement seat of Christ.

We cannot do the work of ministry within ourselves. We must depend on the grace and the power of God to operate in the Spirit realm in order to effect eternity. My husband and I are living this out in our pastoral ministry right now. Our church motto is the Love God. Reach People. Change Lives for Eternity.

We have a number of families that are afflicted with sickness and needing a right now miracle from God. We are asking God for a supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the people in our church.

Will you join me in prayer for these families that God will move mightily in their lives, heal them, and set them free? Will you pray for us that we always abide in vine of Jesus Christ and that we will continue to be obedient to the Lord’s call?

Until next time,

Are you in a season of change? If so, can I pray for you? Email me here.
