Hello Kathryn,

Spring is almost here! I am looking forward to new weather and the return of outside sports with my children. Here comes baseball and softball lasting all the way to Summer.

Spring is a fresh start and a new beginning. Spring is about changing from cold cloudy days to pleasant sunny days. I had a conversation with my daughter last night about her softball team. She wanted to be on the same team as her friends from her world series team last year. She kept saying it is not fair, it is not fair. As I could see the tears roll down her cheeks in frustration, I told her you must make new friends and you must grow. This team will be fun.

Our reaction to our growth in the Lord can look just like this. The Lord wants to do new things in us, but we want to hold onto the old. We are satisfied with the good that we are doing at our present assignment but the Lord wants us to move to the better than He has for us.

I was riding down the road the other day and the Lord brought this verse to my memory. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Just like my daughter, we would rather bring a sacrifice to God and not change and keep the status quo. But what God deserves, and commands quite frankly is obedience.

What we don’t understand is that through obedience God gets us into the better. The better is His will and His provision and His approval. The better that God has for us is far greater than we can even ask or imagine. I have seen that play out in my own life. When I am obedient to God, He exceeds my expectations and reveals to me how small-minded I actually am.

So when you see the pollen on the ground and the trees beginning to bud, think about the things that the Lord is trying to start afresh in your life. Are you like my daughter refusing to change or are you opening your heart and mind to the possibilities of the future that God has for you?

Until next time!

Are you in a season of change? If so, can I pray for you? Email me here.
