Why Should we Shed any Unforgiveness?

Greetings!

I feel like I am still celebrating Easter in my mind, but May is already here! I heard that time is like toilet paper. The closer you get to the end the faster it goes. I feel like time is flying by at a much more rapid pace than ever before. The signs are all around us pointing to the return of Jesus Christ. I heard Dr. David Jeremiah say a number of times, “It is later now than it ever has been.” If we know this to be true, in what manner should we be living?

Hebrews Chapter 12 tells us to let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. There are many things in this life that are problematic for the believer. These things hinder our walk with God and frankly the biggest one is sin.

Many people believe that if I do not commit the outward obvious sins then I am ok. But really it is the inward invisible matters and attitudes of the heart that we all suffer from the most.

For example, unforgiveness. As long as we are in this world and are around imperfect people we are going to be offended. We are human. We must be able to forgive even those deepest hurts that we never thought would happen to us. Unforgiveness hinders our worship and our walk with Christ. Unforgiveness is sin. Over time sin that is not confessed and covered by the grace of God can lead to a hardness of heart and thus Spiritual death.

Some think that by not forgiving someone you are holding something over their head. But really you are nursing a cancer that is growing and taking over your heart to the point that it affects your Spiritual condition.

There is nothing that I want to miss heaven for, especially not hurt feelings or an offense. I encourage you today to examine your heart and shed unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, and malice. Those invisible attitudes of the heart that only God can see are what we tend to forget about.

Until next time!!
