Greetings!
Fall is in full swing! This is a busy season for the body of Jesus Christ. Many anniversary celebrations, homecomings, and revivals in the Fall season. This month is Clergy Appreciation month, and I would like to dedicate this newsletter to encourage those of us who have heeded the call of the Lord and are working fervently to spread the gospel before the seconding coming of the Lord.
Our church just finished revival last week and the theme of our revival was Your Spirit, My Victory. Zechariah 4:6 says, this is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord of hosts. Zerubbabel, a prophet and priest, was charged with the work of rebuilding the temple and God was teaching Zerubbabel that the work he was doing was far too great for his ability and his power. The task at hand was impossible by human might and strength but with God’s Spirit all things are possible.
I believe this verse to be a now word for the laborers in Christ. Our purpose in ministry is to glorify God and work tirelessly to usher in the kingdom of God into the hearts of man. However, looking around at society, this appears to be an impossible task. Humanity has become lovers of themselves and lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Humanity is not willing to endure sound doctrine; and because of their own lusts they are heaping to themselves teachers, having itching ears and turning away from the truth.
The current spiritual landscape can be daunting and discouraging, but this Word reminds us, it is only by the Spirit of God that the kingdom of God will be ushered into the heart of man. You are anointed and appointed for such a time as this. The darker the backdrop the greater your light shall so shine before men.
Some of you may want to give up and abandon post because you do not see the fruit of your labor. You may be surrounded by “church people” who are in church for every other reason except the great commission and you feel defeated. I encourage you today, to anoint yourself with oil and pray for a fresh fire to fall on you and your church. If fatigue and routine has settled in or if you feel stagnated in the work, ask God for a fresh move of the Holy Spirit to stir up the gifts of the Spirit to operate in you, your churches, and your fellowships.
One last thing, the work of God done by the Spirit of God will never fail. It is guaranteed to accomplish its purpose. If you have surrendered yourself to the work of the Holy Spirit and you are operating lockstep with Him in His will, you are guaranteed to succeed. His Word promises us that He will do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ever ask or think.
I told the Lord this, just this week. You have brought us farther than I could have ever imagined possible. My small mind would not have thought of where we are to have even asked God for this. But His ways are higher than ours. All we have to do is believe and trust who God is.
I will continue to pray that God move mightily in your hearts, your minds, your families, and your churches. Be encouraged! The Lord is soon to come. We will behold Him, our blessed hope!
Hallelujah!
