Hello, Upper Valley!

In addition to JAM's diverse community media services, JAM is proud to be the home of WRIF, White River Indie Films, presenting excellent indie films and supporting indie filmmaking in the Upper Valley. This week we’re excited to highlight two films at The Hop co-presented with WRIF (find discount code below) that demonstrate the qualities of creative courage, excellence in filmmaking, and local connection that WRIF values. We also want to shout out Hanover High grad Julia Coulter’s very personal feature film debut, screening at the Nugget (10/21 @ 6:30) as a fundraiser for CHaD. Learn more below!

This week's Upper Valley features

It was once in a blue moon… Hear stories about rare and infrequent encounters at the AVA Mudroom, a popular live storytelling event.

This edition’s storytellers include: Marv Klassen-Landis (a poet, theatre artist, and children’s book author), Rich Gombar (a painter who has installed over 150+ exhibitions at AVA, the Hood Museum, and the Guggenheim), Patrick McDevitt (who grew up in NH when the Patriots and Red Sox were both awful –– an experience that taught him how to be resilient), Sally Bacon Wright (a jewelry designer recently retired from her beloved WRJ store, Oodles), and Kevin Gallagher (a mental health counselor and two-time Moth GrandSlam winner). 9/10/26 Produced by Jordyn Lich for JAM

Inclusivity for all. Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce and Global Village Foods are among this year's VT Spirit of the ADA awards, which recognizes employers who uphold the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). JAM's own Joe Major and Samantha Davidson Green, who both serve on the Governor's Committee for People with Disabilities, joined the celebration. 10/13/26 Produced by Chico Eastridge & Jan Abbott for JAM

An evening of labor solidarity. Upper Valley unions and community organizations celebrated the fourth annual Labor Town Hall. where the night included drag performances from the House of Lewan, testimonials from immigrant community leaders, and tabling from organizations such as NAACP at Darmouth, UVDSA, and more. 10/6/26 Produced by Jordyn Lich for JAM
