Yin Yoga is a form of yoga that uses gentle, relaxing postures to increase flexibility, stretch the deep connective tissues of the body and alleviate tension. The class is slower-paced and done entirely on the floor, either seated on a mat or lying down. Poses are passive and held for up to two or three minutes, which allows areas like ligaments, joints, bones and fascia to lengthen and stretch. Yoga mat or exercise mat recommended, along with a large bath towel, beach towel or yoga blanket.
