A Partnership that Works
Martha’s Table and Urban Alliance have joined forces to increase economic opportunity for youth living in southeast D.C. This partnership will provide workforce readiness training for students in 9th to 12th grade. In addition, 12th grade students will be placed in paid internships. The pipeline of training towards internships gives students the skills, experience, and exposure needed to access and succeed in future work opportunities.

Martha’s Table is currently hosting Urban Alliance training modules at The Commons and will also employ high school seniors in paid internships across our organization.

Last week, we were thrilled to host Kelly Lynne from WJLA ABC7. On "Spotlight on Education," Kelly Lynne highlighted the potential of this thoughtful approach to youth investment. Check out the story here .

Neighbors in Action
Tonya and Anita make a great team at Martha's Market. Anita, a nearby neighbor who just began volunteering with MT, shared, "I love volunteering because you get to move around and engage with people." Tonya has been a regular rock-star volunteering 3-4 times per week for 3 months, often with double shifts. Tonya says, " I like helping and giving to my community. I know what it feels like on both sides- giving and receiving when you need it."
