Tucker First UMC - Special COVID Update
May 27, 2021
One of our biblical values at Tucker First is extravagant hospitality. One way to show that level of hospitality is to take extra steps to help people feel safe and comfortable when they come to our church. After prayerful discussion of the latest CDC guidelines relating to fully vaccinated persons and the spread of COVID-19, the Health and Welfare Committee has made the following recommendations regarding the next steps in the re-opening of our church.
Guidelines for Adult Sunday School
and Small Groups
Starting June 13, adult Sunday School classes and adult small groups are invited to resume meeting in the church buildings.
If some members of your class or group are not fully vaccinated and there are more than ten persons attending, please use one of the following options:
  • Sign up to hold your class or group in either the Chapel or Jenkins Hall to allow space for social distancing. To make a reservation contact Stephanie Shanholtzer in the church office at sshanholtzer@tfumc.org or 770-938-3030.
  • Continue to hold your class or group via Zoom.
  • Hold your class or group outdoors.
The members of the Sunday School class or small group may decide for themselves what specific COVID-19 protocols to follow while they are meeting.
All persons will need to continue to wear masks and maintain social distance in the church common areas (narthex/Gathering area, restrooms, and hallways) such as when navigating between your Sunday School class and the Sanctuary.
Leaders of the classes and groups are asked to contact the church office to let us know your plans and how we can support you.
Guidelines for Our Church Nursery
The nursery will begin operation starting Sunday, June 13. Nursery hours will be from 10:30 am until about 12:30 pm for ages six months to five years.
  • All nursery attendants will be fully vaccinated.
  • If your child is sick, please keep them at home.
If you have any questions about the nursery, please contact Mimi Sanders at mimi_sanders@tfumc.org.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these confusing times. The Health and Welfare Committee welcomes your feedback and prayers as we strive to balance re-opening with following CDC guidelines to protect the safety of the most vulnerable among us.
