And be lifted up, O ancient doors,

"Snowing Is Illegal In Syracuse"
Sunday, April 5 @ 11:00 am
Rev. Gerald Varner preaching

Obedience has more to do with love and respect than it does with legalism.

Matthew 21:1-11 - Jesus instructed two disciples to bring a donkey and its colt for him to ride into Jerusalem.

Jesus was greeted with a crowd of people waving palm branches and shouting, "Hosanna!"

Matthew 21:6 - "The disciples went and did just as Jesus had ordered them."

Special Easter Week Services
Tucker First will have a special Maundy Thursday online worship service on Thursday, April 9. This service will take the form of a Love Feast that families can guide themselves through the service and around the table. Keep an eye out for a guide and video elements, which will be sent out soon! There will also be a Good Friday online worship service on Friday, April 10. We invite you to participate in the services in your home together with your family. The pastors and the worship teams are planning and working on wonderful ideas for Holy Week and Easter.

A Note on Holy Communio n

In response to the new guidelines laid out by our Governor and the CDC, our church leadership has decided that distributing communion elements is not the safest course of action at this time. In lieu of Holy Communion, the Pastors have decided on a Love Feast for Maundy Thursday. The Love Feast has a rich history in Methodist tradition. You can read more about it at the following links.

Volunteers Step Up to Serve Lunches
With schools closing suddenly in mid-March due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Lunch Buddy volunteers jumped into action to make sure children in the Tucker Mobile Home community, who depend on the school lunch program, were being cared for and fed.

A huge thanks to these volunteers who packed and handed out 80 lunches a day for three weeks, including this past week of Gwinnett’s spring break: Lori Ussery, Rachel and Amy Ownbey, Jonnie Johnston, Amy and Rob Bloomquist, Becky Burnett, Barbara and Don Goodwin, Leigh Andersen, Bonnie Hatfield, and Robin Pounds.
Helping Hands Needed at NETWorks
NETWorks has moved to an all outdoor distribution method with pre-packed bags of grocery items. Volunteers are needed to help with food distribution. No experience necessary; training will be provided. You can find the link to volunteer on the church website - www.tuckerfirst.org or the NETWorks website - www.networkscoop.org.
Eighty Pints of Blood Donated!
Thank you to everyone who has stepped up in the past two weeks and helped with the Red Cross blood drives. At the two drives we collected eighty pints of blood! We are working with the American Red Cross to host more blood drives in the near future.

Great news - according to the American Red Cross, our blood drives hosted nineteen first time donors in each blood drive! David Lukens (pictured left) is a first time donor.

From Evelyn Burkett (organizer of the blood drives):

Thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help with the drives: Tom Carlysle, Christen Orr, Craig and Marti Coleman, and Stephanie Shanholtzer. Special thanks to Pastor Gerald for seeing the community need and allowing Tucker First to host these drives.
You Have Been Egged!
Recently the Children's Ministry "egged" many homes of Tucker First families. They delivered a dozen plastic eggs each to forty-six families in Flowery Branch, Duluth, Lawrenceville, Snellville, Lilburn, Tucker, Chamblee, Atlanta, and Jonesboro. This was a total of 552 eggs. The first eleven eggs were filled with candy and the twelfth egg had a message of Easter.
