Disciple Study Theme This Week: Comfort: God Restores the People
Pastor Gerald is aligning his Sunday sermons with the weekly Disciple themes/ chapters.
Tucker First's Lenten theme is “Remember You Are Earth: Tending the Soil of Our Lives.” The staff have developed a host of activities designed around this theme including, but not limited to, planting gardens, cleaning up parks, hiking, etc. All activities will be set up for social distancing and masks will be required.

Pick Up a Palm For Palm Sunday
Our Palm Sunday worship service on Sunday, March 28 at 11:00 am will be a live-streamed worship service to our Tucker First UMC YouTube channel. No in-person worship.

If you would like to have a palm at home to celebrate Palm Sunday, we will have palm branches available for pick up at the church office. Please note that Mimi Sanders will be supplying the children in the children's ministry with palm branches.
Maundy Thursday commemorates Jesus Christ's last supper and the introduction of Holy Communion. This is an outdoor worship service around fire pits in the Wesley Center parking lot. Our youth will be leading this worship service. You may RSVP by clicking on the button below.

Good Friday focuses on the light of God’s love being extinguished by the dark, raw experience of crucifixion. When Good Friday ends, we are at the foot of the cross without the certainty of Easter and resurrection. The service will be focusing on the twelve Stations of the Cross as seen through our modern eyes.

On Easter Sunday, Tucker First offers two opportunities for worship and celebration! We offer a recorded sunrise service for those who prefer to stay home and an Easter worship service on Fitzgerald Field in Tucker. We hope that however you view the service, you will celebrate the risen Christ!

Join your Tucker First family and the community for an Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 4 at 12:30 pm at Fitzgerald Field. Following CDC guidelines, masks will be required for everyone participating and social-distancing practices will be observed.

We are expecting a large turnout of children for the Easter Egg Hunt, and our children's ministry has already purchased all the supplies and prizes. If you would like to contribute to offset the cost of the supplies, please click below.

Please Help Angel Vann
Tucker First member Angel Vann lost everything in an apartment fire a few weeks ago. She has found a new place to live and the church, as well as many members, have stepped up to help Angel get back on her feet. Our Tucker First Weekday Preschool even held a diaper drive for baby Rose (age one)!

If you would like to help Angel, she has an Amazon Wish List of her needs. Check the list often because the list is being updated frequently.
Timeline of Women in Methodism
The United Methodist Church has developed a timeline of "Women in Methodism" that highlights the important women in Methodism and their impact to the growth of the church. We recognize these women because March is Women's History Month.
Sojourner Truth

Co-Founded Kingston Methodist Church in 1843. She also traveled and preached the gospel. Her public speaking, combined her religious faith with her experiences as a slave.
Frances Willard

In 1888, five women, including Frances Williard, who was the president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, were elected lay delegates to the Methodist Episcopal General Conference. Male representatives replaced them.
Ann Howard Shaw

In 1873, became the first woman to acquire a local preacher's license in the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1880, she is refused ordination rights.

In 2008, she became the first African woman bishop.
Bishop Minerva Carcano

In 2004, she became the first Hispanic woman bishop.
In 2019, the United Methodist Women celebrated 150 years since eight denominations came together and began women's missionary societies.

Tucker First has suspended in-person worship. We will not gather for in-person worship again until the COVID-19 numbers have declined to a more acceptable level and sustained for a period of two weeks.See update below on the tentative date for in-person worship.

In-Person Worship Tentatively
Scheduled For April 11!
The Health and Welfare Committee has made the tentative decision to resume in-person worship starting Sunday, April 11. This decision is contingent upon the local COVID-19 risk level staying steady at its current level.

When the church does open back up, we will adhere to the CDC recommended safety protocols including social distancing and mask wearing.
