Hello Ethel Bay!
Becky Burnett snapped this photo during her visit to Ethel Bay recently.

Ethel sends this message,

You are welcome to share picture if you think it is of any interest to people. I do not see myself as being or doing anything special. Claiming the great promises in the Bible gives us all hope. I just try to "run with perseverance the race that is set before me." It was wonderful to have a visit with you and Roberta yesterday. Love, Ethel
Please check on elderly people in our congregation and if possible, visit them. We love any photos of visits plus stories of how they are staying strong through the pandemic.

Tucker First's Lenten theme is “Remember You Are Earth: Tending the Soil of Our Lives.” The staff have developed a host of activities designed around this theme including, but not limited to, planting gardens, cleaning up parks, hiking, etc. All activities will be set up for social distancing and masks will be required.

Trail Cleanup Notes - We will have a beautiful day for working in the preserve and we hope that you and your family will join us this Saturday. Here is a list of tasks for the Tucker Nature Preserve Cleanup Day:
  • Picking up sticks and other debris and placing in piles for collection
  • Removing non-native/invasive plants (someone will help with ID of plants)
  • Trail maintenance to keep a width of six feet throughout the preserve
  • Removal of English ivy from trees in the preserve
  • General tidying up of areas near the parking lots
  • Collecting trash in the nature preserve and placing in the trash cans near parking lot
The folks with Friends of Tucker Parks are incredibly flexible and will help find a task for anyone who wants to participate. You don't have to be able to do hard physical labor!
All volunteers will need to wear a mask while working in close proximity with others at the Tucker Nature Preserve. It is best to wear long pants and long sleeves so that you can be comfortable on the trails. We recommend that volunteers bring insect repellent and sunscreen as well as water. Temperatures will be in the mid-40s and low 50s throughout our workday, but we still want folks to stay hydrated.
Pickup a Palm For Palm Sunday
Our Palm Sunday worship service on Sunday, March 28 at 11:00 am will be a live-streamed worship service to our Tucker First UMC YouTube channel. No in-person worship. If you would like to have a palm at home to celebrate Palm Sunday, we will have palm branches available for pick up at the church office beginning March 23.

Please note that Mimi Sanders will be supplying the children in the children's ministry with palm branches next week.

Good Friday
Worship Service
Good Friday focuses on the light of God’s love being extinguished by the dark, raw experience of crucifixion. When Good Friday ends, we are at the foot of the cross without the certainty of Easter and resurrection. The service will be focusing on the twelve Stations of the Cross as seen through our modern eyes.

Church Office Notes
Tucker First has suspended in-person worship. We will not gather for in-person worship again until the COVID-19 numbers have declined to a more acceptable level and sustained for a period of two weeks.See update below on the tentative date for in-person worship.

You can find the most recent reports on the church website at

In-Person Worship May Be
Back By April 11
The Health and Welfare Committee has made the tentative decision to resume in-person worship starting Sunday, April 11. This decision is contingent upon the local COVID-19 risk level staying steady at its current level.

When the church does open back up, we will adhere to the CDC recommended safety protocols including social distancing and mask wearing. In order to keep our attendance numbers at a safe level, congregants will need to register either via a Sign-up Genius (to be made available next week) or contacting Stephanie Shanholtzer in the church office (again, not until next week).

Please continue to watch the church emails for
updates on the in-person worship.
The Health and Wellness Committee encourages you to get the COVID-19 vaccine when your group is called.

We have made the Holy Communion elements available for pick up outside the church office. We encourage you to pick them up this week. Look for the basket outside the church office doors.

Scam Emails

We continue to hear from people receiving emails that appear to be requests from Pastor Gerald or Pastor Anne. These are scam emails and should be deleted. The issue may not be unique to email but may also include text messages and phone calls. We will never ask for personal information or financial assistance by text or email. If you have questions, contact the church office at 770-938-3030 or email Stephanie Shanholtzer by clicking on the green box below.
