Coronavirus Updates
Pastor Anne practicing social distancing.
Tucker First clergy and staff continue to monitor the latest updates from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the outbreak of COVID-19. The CDC has increased its recommendations through The President’s Coronavirus Guidelines for America-15 Days to Slow the Spread. In the bulletin, the CDC asks the public to avoid social gatherings of more than ten people, Use drive-thru, delivery or pickup options instead of eating out, avoid discretionary travel including shopping trips and social visits, Do not visit nursing homes, retirement facilities or long-term care facilities, and continue practicing good hygiene; wash hands regularly; avoid touching face; sneeze or cough into a tissue or the inside of your elbow; disinfect frequently used items and surfaces.

At this time, all in-person worship services, small groups, and other activities have been suspended through the end of March.

Tucker Mayor Imposes Curfew Amid Coronavirus Outbreak
TUCKER, GA. (March 20, 2020) – On Friday, Tucker Mayor Frank Auman outlined a series of new measures aimed at proactively stemming the spread of the coronavirus. Those measures include:

  •  A curfew imposed between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  •  All businesses must comply with FEMA guidelines
  • An order that any public gatherings within the City of Tucker meet with federal guidelines in terms of group size and social distancing

“Our general approach has been to allow as much freedom as possible to our people and businesses to continue normal activities as long as they could and would comply with guidance from our state and federal public health authorities,” Auman said. “The public response here in Tucker has been astounding and gratifying. Businesses have voluntarily closed or severely modified their practices [and] the public has been more cooperative than we could have hoped for. “Now, despite all the voluntary compliance, I have reached the conclusion that we have run out of the logic that allows us to proceed on that basis alone, and that we must enforce certain restrictions to protect the public.”

The new rules took effect at midnight Friday, March 20. To date, there have been no known cases of the coronavirus within the City of Tucker.

How You Can Help Others
A Message From Pastor Anne
As you know, in the coming weeks we are having to adjust the ways we connect with each other in light of COVID-19. One of the concerns that has been weighing on my heart is how we will reach out to those in our congregation who rely on church for social connection, those who are most at risk because of age or preexisting conditions, those who are not connected to the internet and anyone else who is at risk of being extremely isolated during this time. I’m writing to ask for your help in two ways.

  • Please send me a list of anyone the congregation who may fit this description and would benefit from regular phone calls and/or cards and other encouraging mail.

  • Also send me a list of anyone you think would be willing to make phone calls or “adopt” a member or members to reach out to over this time period.

My goal is to create a team of volunteers that will each be given a few names to call a minimum of once a week. Our Care Team has agreed to step up their efforts with sending cards. Also, Mimi Sanders is organizing ways for the children to send pictures and cards to our church family members who could use the extra attention.

Please contact Pastor Anne Cumings at with the names in our congregation that would benefit from this ministry and those who may be willing to help.

Thank you all for helping with this effort. As always, please be in touch if you have any questions or need some extra care yourself.  Pastor Anne
