Tuesdays With Pastor Gerald
Tuesdays with Pastor Gerald
Tuesdays @ 12:00 noon

This Tuesday message will include a devotional as well as general church information, prayer, and in-home activities suggestions.

The message is pre-recorded and when available, will be on the church website at www.tuckerfirst.org .
Host a Love Feast in Your Home
Pastor Gerald encourages everyone to consider hosting a Love Feast in their home during this time. You can find out more about Love Feasts and the United Methodist Church on the church website at

There is a order of service and also a video provided by the United Methodist Church to explain the purpose of the Love Feast.
A Word About Communion Elements
The staff is working towards a solution to get communion elements to everyone that desires them. As United Methodists, we follow the Wesleyan tradition of partaking of communion as often as possible and is another way to connect with God.

If your family is interested in picking up communion elements when they are available, please send an email to Stephanie Shanholtzer at sshanholtzer@tfumc.org. The staff wants to make sure we have enough to meet the demand. The staff's goal is to have the blessed elements available to members by April 9.

How You Can Help Others
Coronavirus Care Team
We are continuing to reach out to congregants who are at risk of being extremely isolated during this time. If you are interested in volunteering to call folks or send notes and cards or if you know of anyone who could use this extra attention, please contact Pastor Anne at anne.cumings@ngumc.net
How Are You Showing Hope to Our Community?
The church staff is interested in ways that you are staying hopeful and also spreading this message of hope to our community. Please submit your ideas, suggestions, and ways you are staying hopeful to info@tfumc.org.

How You Can Help With the Severe
Blood Shortage Due to COVID-19
Due to COVID-19, there has been an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations. The American Red Cross is facing a severe blood hortage.  Volunteer donors are the only source of blood for those in need.

Our March 26 blood drive at Tucker First is now closed to donors due to meeting capacity; however, we still need volunteers on that day to help with two-hour shifts.

Our next blood drive is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1 from 2:30 pm- 7:30 pm in the Activities Center. The Red Cross has implemented new measures to ensure the safety of donors and volunteer staff.

  • To Donate Blood: visit redcrossblood.org and enter “tuck1umc” under “Find a Blood Drive”

  • To Sign up as Volunteer Staff: click on the Red Cross logo..
NETWorks Changes in Response to COVID-19
Networks Logo
NETWorks has moved to an all outdoor distribution method with pre-packed bags of grocery items. Hours remain the same, Wednesday / Friday / Saturday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Many of their regular volunteers are self-isolating and volunteers from low risk groups are needed to help pack and distribute bags of groceries. No experience necessary; training will be provided.

You must sign-up in advance to volunteer; walk-in volunteers will be unable to serve as Networks is closely managing volunteer numbers to maintain social distancing.

Keep Up To Date With Everyone
Are you checking on your friends, family, neighbors, Sunday School class members, small group members, and the elderly in your community? Who have you not reached out to lately? Do not assume someone else has checked on that person, do it yourself. Here are some conversation starters:

  • If you are working, are you working from home or still at the office?
  • If you are retired, what are you doing as you “shelter in place.”
  • Show me some pics of your projects or your family (or the family pet).
  • How is your health?
  • How can I pray for you?
  • Do you have any needs that I can help you with? Transportation, food, etc.?
  • Do you have any YouTube videos that you find inspirational (or funny) during this time?
  • Ask your friend, "Do you receive the church emails?" If not, please send an email to Stephanie Shanholtzer at sshanholtzer@tfumc.org.

Perils of Zoom Meetings

At Tuesday's staff meeting, our Tucker First staff members were utilizing the Zoom conferencing app and practicing social distancing. However, Lynn Urda's dog, McKinley wanted to the participate!
The church office is operating normal business hours. If you have a need, prayer concern, question, or wish to talk to a pastor, please do not hesitate to contact the office or a staff member.
