We want to encourage everyone in to display a sign of hope by putting a candle/ light in their window at night.
Tom Moore has chosen a Moravian Star as you can see in the picture.

We need hope and light to shine brightly during these uncertain days.
Please join us and ask your friends to do the same. We hope this light will encourage all of your neighbors to do likewise and the concept will spread faster and shine brighter than any virus out there!

Show us your light! Send photos to communications@tfumc.org or post them on the church Facebook page.

Alternate Giving is Quick and Easy!
Because we are not meeting in person on Sunday mornings, giving to Tucker First is down significantly. A large portion of our church giving (greater than half) comes in on Sunday mornings. To be absent in body from Sunday mornings does not mean to be absent from giving to Tucker First.

We pray the Holy Spirit will guide us through these times and enable us to share God’s word and love and fulfill His work in this world which we share with our brothers and sisters.

Please give what you can by one of the following ways:

  • Drop your tithe off at the church office during office hours.

  • Mail your tithe to the church (secure mailbox).

  • Send through your bank’s online bill-pay service.

  • The Give+ app on your phone or other mobile device. Look for it in the App Store or Google Play. Setting up and making payments are quick and easy.

  • Text-to-Give at 833-488-6350. Simply type in the amount you would like to give and you will be prompted on how to complete the donation.

Host a Love Feast in Your Home
Pastor Gerald encourages everyone to consider hosting a Love Feast in their home during this time. You can find out more about Love Feasts and the United Methodist Church on the church website at

There is a order of service and also a video provided by the United Methodist Church to explain the purpose of the Love Feast.
A Word About Communion Elements
The staff is working towards a solution to get communion elements to everyone that desires them. As United Methodists, we follow the Wesleyan tradition of partaking of communion as often as possible and is another way to connect with God.

If your family is interested in picking up communion elements when they are available, please send an email to Stephanie Shanholtzer at sshanholtzer@tfumc.org. The staff wants to make sure we have enough to meet the demand. The staff's goal is to have the blessed elements available to members by April 9.

Forty Pints Collected This Week!
Due to COVID-19, there has been an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations. The American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage. Volunteer donors are the only source of blood for those in need.

Tucker First collected 40 pints of blood on Thursday!

The next blood drive is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1 from 2:30 pm- 7:30 pm in the Activities Center. The Red Cross has implemented new measures to ensure the safety of donors and volunteer staff.

  • To Donate Blood: visit redcrossblood.org and enter “tuck1umc” under “Find a Blood Drive”

  • To Sign up as Volunteer Staff: click on the Red Cross logo..
How You Can Help NETWorks This Week
This is the current need board at NETWorks.
If you are able, please help this vital ministry in our community.
NETWorks has moved to an all outdoor distribution method with pre-packed bags of grocery items. Hours remain the same, Wednesday / Friday / Saturday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Many of their regular volunteers are self-isolating and volunteers from low risk groups are needed to help pack and distribute bags of groceries. No experience necessary; training will be provided.

You must sign-up in advance to volunteer; walk-in volunteers will be unable to serve as Networks is closely managing volunteer numbers to maintain social distancing.
From the Church Office
"When you call me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me." Jeremiah 29:12-13

Our prayer ministry lifts your concerns in prayer. You can now submit prayer requests online at www.tuckerfirst.org or you may contact the church office at 770-938-3030 with your prayer request..
Video Chats Dos and Don'ts
We are thrilled that so many people have turned to video chats to keep in touch with each other and their small groups during this crisis.

We have reports that some ESOL classes are continuing via Zoom, our Wednesday night ladies Bible study meets via Zoom, our church staff is holding many meetings via Zoom, and many Sunday School classes will be gathering this week for a lesson and fellowship through Zoom!

Additionally, our preschool teachers and children's ministry leaders have stayed in touch with their students and children through Facebook pages and Facebook Live. Throughout all of this, many of us are learning a new skills of how to use the video chats. Here are a few tips:

Do

  • Mute your mic when you are not speaking by hovering your mouse at the bottom of the screen and clicking the microphone button.

  • Pause before you speak to make sure the previous person was finished with their thought.

  • If you’re the host, be intentional about giving each person a time to share if they want to share.

  • Use the chat feature if there’s a question that you want to bring up that’s related, but not essential to the conversation.

  • Use headphones if you have them.

  • Bring up the website a couple of minutes before the start time, and close other computer windows.

  • Have the camera/ phone/ iPad, etc at eye level or we will be looking up your nose!

Don't

  • Don’t interrupt or talk over other people when they’re speaking, even with a quick affirmation of agreement.

  • Don’t tune out when others are speaking.
