"More Than a Mask" Project
Support By Tucker First
Thanks to our congregation’s generous giving to Faith Promise, the Missions Committee made a $1,000 donation to Corners Industries “More Than a Mask” project in August.

This initiative of Corners Outreach allows women in our community to work at home sewing masks while earning a living wage and caring for their children. The 150 masks purchased with our donation were given out to children at nearby Graves Elementary who are returning to in-person learning.

KC Sorensen, program director at the Corners Outreach Norcross location, writes “we so appreciate all of the Tucker First UMC family and your support of our shared community”. These masks will help children stay safe while returning to the classroom and protect our school community.

To find out more about this project, or to order a mask, go to www.cornersoutreach.org/store.
Zoom Meetings
Night of Awareness is September 29
No one person, congregation, or denomination can do everything. Each of us can do something to help in the fight! According to the CDC, one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually exploited by age eighteen. Please join Tucker First UMC, along with Street Grace, for an online "Night of Awareness,” on Tuesday, September 29 from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm.

This free program will focus on how you can help eradicate the commercial sexual exploitation of children in our communities. Local law enforcement will provide updates and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers. Street Grace is a faith-driven organization collaborating with faith, business and community leaders as well as providing a comprehensive path to end the sexual exploitation of minors.

Donations Needed
Health Kits for the Homeless
Thank you to everyone who has made the health kits for the homeless. We have about sixty kits completed and would love an extra forty kits. Please consider making ten health kits.

Pre-made health kits are needed for our local homeless population. These kits contain necessary items that many of us take for granted and we invite you to make some kits in September. Items in the kits should include: toothbrush, toothpaste, bar soap, wash rag, mask, hand sanitizer, and socks. Place all items in a gallon Ziploc bag. We would prefer that you create a minimum of ten health kits so that our volunteers are picking up at least ten kits (instead of just one kit).

When your kits are completed, please sign up for a pickup by using this signup sheet - https://tinyurl.com/healthkits2020. Someone will come and pick up your kits. The completed health kits will be delivered to the DeKalb Police Department, Tucker Precinct and also the Trinity Soup Kitchen in downtown Atlanta.
Raid Your Closet - Donate Your Old Belts
Peace of Thread specializes in making unique, one-of-a-kind handbags and accessories. They would love donations of old handbag handles, leather, belts, and costume jewelry. You may drop your items at the house of Vivian Nickelsen, 2110 Stoneleigh Drive, Stone Mountain. In September, a box will be on the front porch for the donations.
