October 25, 2021

Greetings!

Our prayers for a speedy recovery for Pima County administrator Chuck Huckleberry who was critically injured this weekend in a crash with a motor vehicle as he was riding his bicycle in downtown Tucson.

Next Tuesday November 2, 2021, the voters in Tucson will be voting for 3 city council members and 2 propositions.

·        Ward 3, Keven Dahl - (D), Alan Hartwell Jr. - (R), Lucy Libesha - (L)
·        Ward 5 Richard Fimbres - D, Adalberto Dias – (I), Shelly Cross (R) write-in
·        Ward 6 Steve Kszachik - (D), Val Romero- (I)

·        Prop 410 will raise the Mayor’s salary from $42,000 a year to $54,000 and Council Members from $24,000 to $36,000. This is pretty cut and dry, vote yes or no for the pay raise. There is no hidden agenda.

·        Prop 206 says it will incrementally raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour but the 6 pages of special interest wording by the initiatives authors paint a different picture. A whole new branch of government will have to be created by the City of Tucson to enforce this cumbersome initiative. Once enacted, the mayor and council can do nothing to change it.

Below in this newsletter is an opinion from Tucson City Attorney, Michael Rankin, that questions the legality of Prop 206.

For those of you voting by mail, your ballot must be in delivered to the elections department by November 2nd. If you haven’t mailed your ballot yet, I recommend not risking the Postal Service delivering your ballot on time. You can utilize several ballot drop off locations. Use this Link for instructions and locations.

Samuel Adams, Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote...that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country”.

Equipping Christians to be salt and light by working to bring Godly values back to our American culture.

Any church can easily establish a ministry that can come alongside the pastor to Inform, Equip, Alert & Mobilize both pastors and congregations on the culturally-relevant issues of the day. This non-partisan initiative provides vast knowledge, training, and informational resources that promote good government according to Biblical principles, and without any political party affiliation.
