Join your Chamber for a roadside cleanup in our community. We'll meet at the Walgreen's on First and Tangerine and then collect trash on both sides of First Ave between Tangerine and Naranja. OV Spring Arts Fest this weekend at Marketplace | |
------Food trucks, open-air painters, musical performances, a jumping castle ... the Oro Valley Spring Festival of the Arts has something for everyone.
------Chamber member the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance and the Town of Oro Valley present the annual event this Saturday and Sunday, March 8-9, at Chamber member Oro Valley Marketplace.
------Admission is free. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and 10-4 Sunday.
------The festival features a “thoughtfully curated market,” showcasing the talent of small, independent artists and businesses at booths throughout.
------Kids can burn some energy in a jumping castle, or have their faces painted. Everyone can watch more than 20 artists painting in a plein-air experience. People can explore their inner artist and craftsmanship at hands-on tents. There’s live music most of each day. And the Amphi Car Show takes place near Walmart Supercenter on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Businesses must file information by March 21 | |
------All businesses must report their initial, updated or corrected “beneficial ownership information” to the U.S. Treasury by March 21.
------The filing requirement, upheld in a Feb. 18 court ruling, was put in place by Congress in 2021 to curb illicit finance. The bipartisan Corporate Transparency Act requires companies to report information about their ownership and control structures to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, which is part of the U.S. Treasury.

OV night with Tucson Roadrunners March 16 | |
------Oro Valley Mayor Joe Winfield drops the first puck Sunday, March 16, when the Tucson Roadrunners hockey club hosts Oro Valley Community Night at the Tucson Arena.
------“I’m thinking about those hockey players I’m going to be standing between dropping that puck,” the mayor said at Wednesday’s town council meeting. “I’m not quite sure about this.”
------“They’re probably bigger than you and me put together,” said Town Manager Jeff Wilkins, who gets the “honor” of riding the ice-making Zamboni.
------The Roadrunners, a Copper Chamber member, are joining the Town of Oro Valley and your Chamber in celebrating “everything that makes Oro Valley great while supporting professional hockey in the desert,” an invitation said.

------Oro Valley businesses and organizations are being showcased throughout the night, with informational booths highlighting tourism, parks and recreation, the Oro Valley Police Department, and OV businesses.

------The Roadrunners organization contributes to regional tourism, generating more than $500,000 annually in economic impact through lodging, dining, and retail spending.

Wildfire safety forum at OV Town Hall March 14 | |
------A wildfire safety community forum is open to the public next Friday, March 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Oro Valley Town Hall.
------The forum, with a question-and-answer session, is being presented by Chamber partner the Town of Oro Valley and Chamber Diamond member Golder Ranch Fire District. The event is intended “to ensure residents are informed and prepared when it comes to wildfire safety,” a release said.
------“As wildfires remain a pressing concern in the western United States, Oro Valley and Golder Ranch are taking proactive steps to address fire prevention and preparedness,” the town and district said.
------Golder Ranch Chief Tom Brandhuber, Wildland Fire Coordinator Capt. Colin Port, and Fire Marshal Jennifer Akins are expected to provide “essential wildfire safety tips, discuss home protection strategies, and share valuable resources to help residents stay prepared,” the agency said.
------“We understand that wildfires are a serious concern for our residents,” Brandhuber said. “By hosting this Q&A, we hope to address any questions, provide useful safety information, and show that the community as a whole is well prepared for wildfires. Our goal is to ensure residents feel confident in the protection of their homes and families.”
------“Public safety is at the core of everything we do in Oro Valley, and our partnership with Golder Ranch Fire District plays a critical role in protecting our community,” said Town Manager Jeff Wilkins. “By working together, we’re taking proactive steps to reduce wildfire risk, enhance emergency preparedness, and ensure our residents have the resources they need to stay safe.”

------Tim Kromer, executive director of the Amphitheater Public Schools Foundation, is one of eight non-profit leaders speaking at the Main Event, presented by Social Venture Partners Tucson as part of its Fast Pitch Tucson offering.
------Kromer and others share their stories on Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m. at the Fox Theatre. Each speaker has three minutes. Winners receive significant funds from SVP Tucson, a Chamber member that connects nonprofits and philanthropy, “fostering deep relationships that inspire change and build resilient communities,” an invitation said.

IMPACT, Golder Ranch and Walmart collect food March 28 | |
------March is “Food Drive Month,” and three Chamber members are teaming to collect donations on Friday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to noon.
------Residents are invited to bring non-perishable food to a drive-through collection at Walmart SuperCenter, 2150 E. Tangerine Road, Oro Valley, 85737. It’s in Oro Valley Marketplace.
------Golder Ranch Fire District firefighters are accepting food for the Catalina Food Bank, operated by IMPACT of Southern Arizona.
------IMPACT’s food bank supports 800 families – about 2,200 individuals – in Pima and Pinal counties each month, the Chamber member nonprofit said. At IMPACT, people shop for their own pantry items to fulfill their unique preferences and needs. They “use our food bank to stretch their groceries each month,” IMPACT said.

------We Care Tucson is inviting golfers to “team and tee off” in support of its efforts on Thursday, April 10, at the Arizona National Golf Club.
------The charity fund-raiser is a shotgun start, four-person scramble. There are prizes, raffles, a silent auction, lunch and awards.

------Chamber member nonprofit We Care Tucson is dedicated “to fostering education, information, and wellness accessibility within the Tucson community,” its website said. The organization refurbishes donated technology and medical equipment for people in need. In doing so, “we empower sustainability and equity for all,” it said.
