Defy Columbias

Fascist Speech Code With the Truth!

JOIN THE SPEAK-OUT AT COLUMBIA, TUESDAY

AUG 12, NOON, 116/BROADWAY, FRONT OF MAIN GATE

On July 22, Columbia suspended, expelled, and/or revoked the degrees of 70+ students for righteously protesting the U.S.-Israeli genocide in Gaza.

On July 23, Columbia struck a deal with the fascist Trump regime: Imposing new controls on protest; changes in admissions and hiring policies; outside monitoring of Middle Eastern-related fields of study; and sharing data with the government about political activities of international students.

That same week Columbia adopted a new and dangerous definition of anti-Semitism from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance that labels as "antisemitic" any description of the existence of Israel as “a racist endeavor” or “drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.”

Prominent Middle East scholar Rashid Khalidi has withdrawn his fall course in protest: “Under this definition of anti-Semitism, which absurdly conflates criticism of a nation-state, Israel, and a political ideology, Zionism, with the ancient evil of Jew-hatred, it is impossible with any honesty to teach about topics such as the history of the creation of Israel, the ongoing Palestinian Nakba [ethnic cleansing] culminating in the genocide being perpetrated by Israel in Gaza...”

And as the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian (@BobAvakianOfficial) has put it: “…it is entirely possible, and definitely right, to oppose the state of Israel overall—based not on hatred for Jews, but on the actual Zionist/Jewish Supremacist nature of Israel and how this has involved a whole history of atrocities against the Palestinian people.”

Columbia used to be known as an “activist Ivy,” where dissent and critical thinking had some space. Now as an institution it will stand for belly-crawling, for censorship, for outlawing critical thought...and COLLABORATION with fascists and genociders!

DEFY THE SPEECH CODE! NO COMPLIANCE WITH FASCIST THOUGHT CONTROL!

SPECIAL SHOWING AT REVOLUTION BOOKS OF

NO OTHER LAND

SUNDAY, AUGUST 10, 4PM

No Other Land is a powerful documentary about Palestinians in the occupied West Bank fighting to protect their homes from demolition by Israel's military and from Zionist settler attacks.

The film follows activist Basael Adra as he risks arrest to document the destruction of his hometown, Masafer Yatta—which Israeli soldiers are tearing down to use as a military base. No Other Land is a collaboration between Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers and won the 2025 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

On July 28, the well-known Palestinian activist Owdeh Hathaleen, a consultant to the film, was shot dead by a settler in the West Bank.
