WITNESSING VERSES – LESSON 8
Memorizing these seven selected scriptures will lay the foundation needed for effective personal witnessing. As with any “foundation” the whole “building” is not yet complete, but without the “foundation” there would be no stable and durable “building” to bring to completion.
Once the foundation has been laid, the rest of it can then come into focus. What does “the rest of it” include?
It includes a desire to witness to others. It involves “engaging” a person in conversation so that you have their attention. It usually includes asking them one or more key questions to open their mind or heart. These are things you will be able to learn or “catch on to” as you begin to witness.
The most important factor is the Holy Spirit, for without Him our efforts are feeble. He can stir the unction within you to witness. He will be your guide and most effective teacher. He can give you the confidence to make that first step, and then another and another.
There is no greater joy for a Christian than to lead another person to salvation. It brings a level of satisfaction that you are doing the work of Jesus which He commissioned us to do. It adds a star to your heavenly crown reward, but crown or no crown, it gives you both joy and peace to know another name has been added to the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Keep a list of these seven scriptures. I suggest you memorize one each week. At least once each week review orally the ones you have previously memorized. Regular review and repetition are important.
Here is a full list of your seven foundational passages:
- John 3:16
- Romans 3:23
- Romans 6:23
- Romans 5:8
- Ephesians 2:8, 9
- Romans 10:9, 10
- II Corinthians 5:17
Be diligent in this pursuit and let Holy Spirit mold you into a soulwinner for Jesus.
