YOYO CHRISTIANITY

Have you ever played with a yoyo? My older brothers were quite good at it. I did okay, but I never achieved what they did. A yoyo has a string wound around a piece of wood or plastic, and as you let it fall, the string can control the wood to go up and down. Some people can make them go amazingly fast and others just maintain it rhythmically up and down. Most of the time that I did it, it just only went up and down once and then it would just fall flat. It takes a lot of practice to be good at a yoyo. I guess I was more interested in my doll than the yoyo.

When it comes to calling someone a yoyo, it means they are up and down, up and down. In Christianity it would mean that one day their faith is up and the next day their faith is down. They are unstable. The book of James tells us in chapter 1 that we must ask God for things in faith, without wavering. It must be consistent, not up and down. It goes on to say in 1:8 that “A double-minded man (up and down in faith) is unstable in “all” his ways.”   In other words, one day the person believes and the next day they doubt. That is being doubleminded.

It takes practice to not be doubleminded. It takes time to study God’s Word and learn His promises. Just like it takes time to master any skill, you must take time to master your faith. It would be very sad to go through life and be told by God that you are “unstable in all your ways.”

I suggest that those of us that have not practiced or lived our lives by faith must make a choice to do so now. Hebrews tells us in 11:6 “…. without faith it is impossible to please him…” So, if we want to please God, we must build up our faith, and not be like a yoyo that is up and down. I believe you can do it my friends. I have faith that you will not be a Yoyo Christian!

Will you pledge to witness to someone at least once a week to bring in an end time harvest?

THE CHRISTMAS SERIES – PART 9
MARY, JESUS, SIMEON

We often speak of the shepherds and the wise men who worshipped the young Messiah, Jesus. Luke speaks of two others who also recognized Him and worshipped Him, Simeon and Anna.

A woman was considered “unclean” after childbirth for seven days, and during that time was separated from everyone. On the eighth day she would take her son for circumcision; that also begins 33 days of purification where she is to not touch any hallowed (holy) thing nor enter the Temple sanctuary. After that total of 40 days, she then must present herself at the Temple to make atonement for cleansing with a burnt offering of a lamb, pigeons, or turtledoves.

Mary presented herself in Jerusalem to fulfill her cleansing sacrifice, accompanied by Joseph and infant Jesus, who was now 40 days old. There she encountered Simeon and Anna.

Simeon (Luke 2:25-40) was a devout man, just and righteous, who had been waiting for “the consolation of Israel.”  The Holy Ghost was upon him and had revealed that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Christ. On that particular day, the Holy Spirit led Simeon to the Temple. He saw the child, took Jesus in his arms, and blessed God. His life was now fulfilled.

Simeon then prophesied that this child was “prepared for the face of all people, a light to lighten the gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.” (Luke 2:31-32.)   He also said in vs. 34, “this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel” which was fulfilled with the fall in 70 A.D. and rising in 1948 A.D.

God had fulfilled His promise to Simeon. He will also fulfill His promises to us children today as we are obedient to His call and His ways.

Stay tuned. Tomorrow we will discuss Anna.

A WORD OF EXHORTATION

Be prepared my friends for 2021. Many weren’t prepared for 2020 and look what happened.

I hear the Lord saying there is no room for any kind of offense. We must walk with integrity and pure hearts. There will be a greater sifting and shifting than ever so be prepared. Do not be hasty in making decisions. Do not rely on anyone to lead you other than the Holy Spirit. There is much deception coming. Don’t walk in fear. Walk in faith! Walk in the authority that God gives his children. It is time to rise up and fight the fight of faith with our weapons that are mighty through God that will pull down strongholds. We must come out of the prayer closet and act on the assignment we have been given. Mighty exploits and miracles will happen through those that rise up and go in the power and anointing of the name of Jesus!
