ZECHARIAH THE PROPHET – LESSON 10
THE BRANCH – PART 2
Zechariah’s eighth and final night vision showed initially four chariots with horses which represented the spirits of the heavens going about the earth. Some people relate them to the four horses in Revelation Chapters 2, 6, 7 and 9. I wish rather to focus on the remainder of that vision (it is not a dream) which speaks prophetically of the future messianic King of Kings, Jesus, “The BRANCH,” who is found in Zechariah 6:9-15.
When the first man, Adam, lost his perfection due to sin, God gave the initial revelation in Genesis 3:15 of His plan to redeem (purchase back) mankind. Additional revelations built upon that promise as time passed along.
Isaiah Chapter 4 speaks of the future kingdom of His restored people brought about (v. 2) that says, “In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious…” then it goes on to speak of the glory of God’s presence. Isaiah 11:10 further shows that this “Branch” shall come out of “a root of Jesse,” the father of King David from whom Jesus descended.
Lesson 6 of this series (2-26-21) spoke of this “BRANCH” referred to in Zechariah 3:8 as the angel of the LORD who spoke to the high priest Joshua. The name “Joshua” is a variant form of “Johoshua” or “Yeshua,” i.e., Jesus” in English. The high priest Joshua in Zechariah is a fore-type of Jesus, our eternal High Priest, Savior, and God.
In this final vision, Zechariah is shown and told, (Zech. 6:12-13) “Behold the man whose name is the BRANCH. And he shall…build the temple of the LORD…and he shall bear the glory, and sit and rule upon his throne…”
The “temple of the (Spirit of the) Lord is the body of every true believer in the BRANCH (Jesus) as His spirit dwells within us. He now sits on His throne in heaven having been given all power in heaven and earth. Yet, in the future, He shall also establish His throne on earth in Jerusalem, the Holy City. Verse 15 says “And they that far off (in the future) shall come…” People are still coming to know Jesus, the BRANCH, as their personal King, Saviour, Lord, and God.
No man, regardless of his religion, can have a personal relationship with his god except through Jesus. All other entities who may be called a “god” are only demon impersonators.
To know Jesus is to know true inner peace. It is a peace beyond human understanding; it can only be known by experiencing it from the Prince of Peace, Jesus, who said (I John 14:27), “…My peace I give unto you.”
Make your present and eternal peace with God through the Lord Jesus. He is the only way to the Father. (John 14:6)
