Mark Landis is the subject of the award winning documentary film  ART & CRAFT.  The film is more than just a story about a prolific art forger being tracked down by a diligent registrar who obsesses in stopping him. Mark Landis life on film has brought the general audience awareness of two very delicate subjects: a rt forgery and  mental illness.
The film makers took three years to document Mark's story.  They were compassionate in their approach as they allowed him to give his personal and painfully lonely life story. Mark gives us, the viewers, intimate insight to his eccentric behavior while relating a number of masterful ways  of deception he used to con more than 50 museums across the nation.
Be sure to see the alternate ending of Art and Craft!  Negrotto's is the alternate ending! We first featured Mark in a show in 2012 during the time producers were still gathering material for the documentary.

Art & Craft has received international recognition.
Mark is interviewed for Norwegian publication,
with journalist Kjetil Lyche  and  photographer Johannes Berg

It is with great joy that Negrotto's Gallery has worked on "The Art of Philanthropy".

Landis is presently featured in "Intent to Deceive," a national touring exhibit and has also begun to create original works of art, including lifelike portraits and idyllic landscapes. "Painting gives him purpose, and opens endless doors to meaningful human connection," his website, marklandisoriginal.com, states. The website was built by caring professionals who encourage him to create originals a nd remain independent.
Mark Landis, is not only one of the most talented art forgers in history but he has a most unique story -money was not his motivation.  Giving away something considered to be valuable to others was his way of obtaining respect, of gaining social acceptance, and of dealing with grief.  Becoming a  philanthropist   through donations of artwork was his way of approaching others in the language he knew best - the language of art.
Read:
Art & Craft - in  A Documentary of Unusual Healing  - National Alliance for Mental Illness - Communications Coordinator -  Joni Agronin, writes about  Mark Landis.

"Those who have been tricked by Landis may still see him as the bad guy but this film paints a picture of an unexpected underdog with incredible talent whose thirst for community and purpose in life is something that resonates with all of us".

He now enjoys time taking commissions and is the happiest he has ever been.  His new found and best friends are Jennifer and Sam -the young film producers pictured above.  They took an interest in sharing his story and through film related events introduced him to a whole new world! Collete, seated on the right side of picture,  is what I call an art forensics expert. She helped build a website for Mark to sell his originals from. Sh e is one of several caring professional who encourages him to create originals and remain independent.  His new found fame affords him the luxury to be -Mark Landis, philanthropist.
