BELIEVE!
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but
may have eternal life. John 3:16
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
Do you believe ALL the promises in the Bible? Do you really believe that they all apply to you?
Recently I heard one of the hosts on the morning edition of K-LOVE say something that really hit home with me. He said, “I find it easier to believe John 3:16 than I do to believe Romans 8:28.” Let that sink in for a minute. As Christians we believe that God did love us so much that He gave Jesus to die for us so that we all may have salvation and eternal life with Him. We memorized John 3:16 as children – it’s the foundation of our faith. We believe!!
But…when it comes to Romans 8:28, many of us have a problem there. It’s hard for us to actually believe that everything that happens to us during this life can work for our good. That would mean that all of our pain, all of our sorrow, all of our disappointments – they all will eventually work out for our good. When you really think about that…it’s pretty, well…unbelievable!!!
When we lose someone— a spouse, a child, a parent, or a good friend, it’s hard to see how things are going to be – not just OK – but good! When we are in the middle of the sadness, we just can’t imagine how anything about it could be good.
When we lose our job, we don’t get into the college of our choice, or we are betrayed or disappointed by someone we thought was our friend…It’s going to be good??
YES! God promises that it will be. It will not be the same; and it may take a while for us to see God working through the pain. But, believe it!! God is there and He has a plan. His plan isn’t always (or maybe ever) what we had planned but know that His plan is better than our plan could ever be.
So, whatever you are going through right now, please believe that your God has everything under control. Your job is just to trust Him, follow His leading, and wait for His plan to work out.
Gracious Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your continued care for us. Help us to always trust You with our lives. We know that Your plans are better than our plans. Amen.
