THE JOURNEY OF LIFE

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all  your ways.  Psalms 91:11

The year 2005 was a year of change and regrouping for me. I would no longer be waking at 5 A.M., driving to the gym at 5:30, then returning home to get ready to go to school to face 25 third graders who brightened my every day! I was retiring! Before I left teaching , a good friend offered me a job as a travel agent, home based, allowing me to set my work hours. A dream job! It was a complete joy helping others create a vacation plan for a trip/journey that would be unforgettable.

I often thought about life as a journey where we are sometimes met with adversity, difficult times, and doubt. No matter how we travel on our life journey, I believe the following says it well.

The Train: At birth we board the train and meet our parents. As time goes by, other people board the train and they will be significant, i.e. siblings, friends, strangers and even the love of our life. At some station our parents will step down leaving us alone on this journey. Others will step down over time leaving a permanent vacuum. This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, expectations, hellos, and goodbyes. Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring we give the best of ourselves. Christ-like behavior! The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So we must live in the best way, love, forgive and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty, we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life. Reap success, give lots of love and be happy. God is riding with you on that trip of a lifetime.

Heavenly Father, we know that you have plans for us, a journey to be fulfilled. Thank you for being one of the passengers on our train. Amen.
