FLOWERS

“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. The don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?”

The roses at Hershey Gardens at this time of year are absolutely gorgeous. There is a whole team of gardeners that tend to those plants almost all year long. The care those plants are given results in healthy robust plants with beautiful flowers and a delightful fragrance. There are rows and rows of roses of just about every color possible. It is a large rose garden. In addition, there are more gardens with other flowers that receive the same wonderful care. Those plants also are healthy robust plants with beautiful flowers. It is a perfect place to relax and drink in the beauty of God’s creation.

Longwood Gardens also comes to mind as a similar place. And there are other gardens that receive wonderful care in many other places around the world. The one thing that they all have in common is the care that they receive.

Wildflowers on the other hand, do not get the kind of care that the flowers in the gardens receive. Yet, they can bloom magnificently. Who cares for them? We are told that God cares for them. Not only that, but that God cares for us even more. When we consider how much time and effort gardeners put into caring for their flowers, we might want to consider how much time and effort God puts into caring for us. Sometimes, it can be difficult to think that God would put so much time and effort into caring for us. And why would he do that?

God loves us that much!

The Scripture verse ends with, “Why do you have so little faith?” Can you truly, deep in your heart, believe that God cares for you that much? This is where faith grows – by believing and trusting that God really does care for us that much… and He does!

Loving God, the gardener of my life, thank you for caring for me with your never-ending love. Thank you for watching over me even when I do not realize that you are watching. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into my life every day. May all that I do bring you Glory! Amen.
