On August 14, 2019 , the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published  a final rule  titled “Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds.”

On July 24, 2019, USDA published a Proposed Rule to revise categorical eligibility regulations, proposing to limit the benefits from Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), that may convey categorical eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

SNA has provided comments in response to the Request for Information: The Serious Deficiency Process in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) published in the Federal Register on May 17, 2019.

In a Federal Register notice published on August 7 th , the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) announced its SY2019-20 adjustments to the national average payments and reimbursement rates  for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Special Milk Program (SMP) and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

This week USDA published USDA Foods Product Information Sheets for NSLP as a resource for program operators.

In a policy memo published in July, FNS notified all child nutrition program operators of a provision that states certain groups are not liable in civil cases regarding the donation and service of traditional foods.

FNS has released several new farm-to-school resources to help directors and operators build stable and robust farm-to-school programing.
In the first six months of 2019, legislators in 39 states introduced 218 bills impacting school nutrition programs.

According to the St. Augustine Report , St. Johns County Schools has significantly improved attendance, student learning and morale by providing free breakfast and lunch to students through the Federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).
