Join Us for a Night of Parent Education With Dr. Michael Thompson

Thursday, January 25 at 7 pm

Please remember to RSVP for our Country Day Conversations speaker event this Thursday at 7 pm. Country Day welcomes Michael Thompson for “The Pressured Child,” a presentation for "pressured parents" who have forgotten what school is actually like. He reminds parents that children are almost never judging themselves by grades: they are always monitoring their own development and constantly searching for three things: connection, recognition and a sense of power. Join us for this dynamic conversation!

Please Participate in our Mid-Year Surveys

Last Thursday, you received an email from your Division Head(s) as a check-in with your family at the midpoint of our school year. This short 3-minute survey from our Lower, Middle, and High Schools helps faculty and staff better understand how our students and families are feeling and where we might have room to grow through the rest of our school year.

Please submit those surveys by the end of this week. We value your anonymous feedback, and thank you for participating!

In the Spotlight

Star Student Musicians in the CMEA Honor Band

Sheldon High School’s Performing Arts Center and Theater recently hosted our own Amy Bitar’s ‘28 performance in the CMEA Middle School Honor Band and Aric Reuben ‘26 in the High School Honor band. The CMEA (California Music Educators Association), Capitol Section, is made up of music educators from Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, El Dorado and Amador counties. This event was the result of 3 months and many hours of work by the students in preparation for the audition, being assigned a seat in the band, rehearsals and finally the performance. Special thanks to our Director of Bands, Kurt Pearsall, as well as their parents for supporting their efforts.

Mr. Pearsall shared, “Both Honor Bands were outstanding and almost flawless in the final concert. Our two students were phenomenal in representing Country Day, and had an experience that can only be possible with such a process. The auditorium was fantastic as well, and only made the performance better. It was like listening to a recording that came to life.”

Enjoy a peek into Aric’s concert and Amy’s concert.
