Dear Parents,

I am pleased to announce that STS has a new chef for our daily lunch program. STS parent , Mrs.  Marie D'Agostino will now be preparing healthy, delicious meals for our students. Mrs. D'Agostino and her family have been in the restaurant business for over twenty years. In that time she has mastered various culinary specialties; including, pastries, Italian, American and numerous other cuisines. The STS Kitchen Staff will also be surveying  the students on their favorite menu items throughout the year.

In thanksgiving for your generosity in helping us  exceed our $40,000 Race for Education Goal, the STS Administration and Kitchen staff will be distributing breakfast during morning carpool to all of our parents this Friday, 12/9. Mrs. D'Agostino will be preparing breakfast pastries for everyone. Please be sure to sample some of the chef's handiwork.

Next Thursday, 12/15 is the Annual Christmas Dinner & Concert. There will be a delicious pasta dinner provided by Business Partner Pizza Margarita (Gainesville) beginning at 4:45 p.m. (in the school gym and cafeteria), followed by a concert in the church at 6:00 p.m. We are asking all students to report to their classrooms at 5:30 p.m. so they will walk over to the church with their classes. If your student is in the Choir Elective, Cecelia Choir or 6th Grade Choir they can meet outside the front office near the pond hallway. They will all walk over together. Following the concert, students will be dismissed from the church, please do not bring any jackets to the classroom. If you would like to send in desserts they can be dropped off during morning carpool or in the afternoon carpool. Students are encouraged to wear their uniforms for the concert.
We also invite all of our families to join us for the STS Christmas Band Concert on Wednesday, 12/14 at 7 PM, in the gym and the  annual STS Christmas Para-liturgy on Monday, 12/19 at 1:45 p.m. in the church. Come see our Kindergarten angels and the Holy Family, and join us in singing joyous Christmas songs. A special thanks to Mrs. Salinas for her efforts in organizing and preparing our students for this year's Christmas Programs. We hope these events get you into the Christmas spirit!

This Thursday , 12/8 is the feast of the Immaculate Conception and the student's will be attending the 9 am  Mass. We will also be attending Mass on Friday, 12/9 and will be celebrating (in advance), the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Each student is encouraged to bring in a Rose on Friday, to present to our Blessed Mother before Mass. Our pre-school students will also be processing into Mass with the image of Our Lady.  We invite and encourage all of our parents to join us for the celebration on the Holy Mass on both days.

Next Wednesday, 12/16, students are encouraged to come dressed in attire representing true   Christmas Spirit.  Given that this is the season of giving, we also encourage each student to bring in a donation for Catholic Charities (Please note that Pajamas are not permitted). The student Government is trying to beat last year's total of $2,100, raised for the Arlington Diocese Catholic Charities! Thank you for supporting this worthwhile cause and for your continued generosity!

Would you believe there is a Handwashing Awareness Week!! So Let us all Practice what we preach to the children!!

The 4 Principles of Hand Awareness:
1.  Wash your hands when they are dirty and BEFORE eating

2. DO NOT cough into your hands

National Influenza Vaccination Week (first full week of December) If you haven't done so yet; Go Get a Flu Shot!!
It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against influenza virus infection. That's why it's better to get vaccinated early in the fall, before the flu season really gets under way. But it is not too late! Give yourself an early Christmas present so the holidays will be happy and healthy!!

God bless you!
