Dear Parents,
PTO auction

We hope that everyone enjoyed this year's Annual Gala Auction. I'd like to once again thank the PTO Board (Mrs. Spillane, Mrs. Cinotti and Mrs. Kabadi and Mrs. Pilon)  for making this year's Auction so special, a great time was had by all.

A special word of thanks and appreciation to Mrs. Pilon, our PTO President and Auction Chair for her tireless efforts on this year's event. Please find an Auction wrap-up in the PTO section of today's Tuesday Tidbits.

With the season of Lent upon us, we feel that there is no better time to highlight the virtue of Mercy. It is through Jesus's ultimate sacrifice that we are all shown God's glorious mercy. Students who display this virtuous behavior will be recognized by their teachers and placed in our Virtue Vineyard.

"I think we too are the people who, on the one hand, want to listen to Jesus, but on the other hand, at times, like to find a stick to beat others with, to condemn others. Jesus has this message for us: mercy. I think - and I say it with humility - that this is the Lord's most powerful message: mercy".
- Pope Francis

This is a reminder that our safety committee will be hosting a session on the dangers of Social Media and other student safety issues, tomorrow evening  Wednesday, 3/8/17 in the school Library at 7:00 pm. Please note that we will also have special speakers to discuss these topics and answer any questions you may have. Teachers and students will also receive training on these topics this week.

Please note that the date for the pastor / principal coffee has been changed to next Friday, March 17th.  I hope to see you all there.

Congratulations to all of our CYO basketball teams on a successful season. Special Kudos go out to this year's STS CYO Championship Teams, the 8th grade girls and boys and the 5th grade girls team. Well done students, we are all so proud of you! Thanks also to our volunteer coaches, we appreciate you sharing you passion and knowledge of the game with our students!

On behalf of STS I'd also like to thank Mr. Paul Hunter and Mr. and Mrs. Jans for their generous donations to our school. We greatly appreciate your generosity to and support of our school.

We will be adding a new CYO track team in the coming weeks. Details and sign-up information is forthcoming in next week's Tuesday Tidbits.

Congratulations to our newest NJHS members. 43 new members (7th grade students) were inducted in the STS NJHS Chapter yesterday afternoon.

A special thank you to Mrs. Spillane and her mother for spoiling our teachers and staff today with an amazing feast of Italian delights.

I greatly appreciate your active support of our wonderful school.

God bless you,

Mr. Joseph M. McLaughlin
Principal

Congratulations to all our National Junior Honor Society Inductees! Well Done!

Clinic Update

The clinic has been VERY busy! We are still seeing many cases of Influenza A in several classes and among the staff. Remember to wash those hands, especially before eating! We've seen some cases of strep throat too. I f you think your child could have strep throat, they must be seen by their health care provider. Group A Strep throat is a serious bacterial infection that should be treated with antibiotics . We are also seeing a lot to different types of rashes come thru our door.  Please remember to inform us by phone or email of any rash your child may have due to allergies, virus, psoriasis, dry skin etc.

Please remember that if a medication or cream/ointment needs to be taken/applied during school hours, to fill out the Medication Authorization form, signed by a physician for prescription drugs or any OTC drug taken for more than 4 days at school and bring it in with the medication.  Also remember that an adult must bring in any medication to the clinic, not your child.
Chapstick

Lastly, we have seen lots of students coming in with very dry, cracked, chapped and bleeding lips.  We are only able to apply Vaseline which comes off easily and is a very temporary fix.  IF you notice your child has chapped lips, please consider sending in a tube of Chapstick with your child to use as needed.

Thanks!  Many Blessings,
Mrs. Julianne Duffy, RN, BSN
Mrs. Mary K. Rogowski, MSN, RN, FNP
