Mr. McLaughlin's Tuesday Tidbits Overview for 9/13/2016 |
Quick Links:
Dear Parents,
Please note that we are very close to hiring a new school guidance counselor. I expect to make an announcement in the next 48 hours.
Attached, please find Mr. Pryor's first Academic Newsletter:

view
.
Please note that there is a link in his newsletter that will provide an overview of the new Scantron assessment tool, the benefits of the assessment tool and an interpretation of the results. This Scantron assessments will help us identify and better meet the individual learning needs of each STS student.
Please note that there is an error on the calendar magnets that were recently distributed to the STS community. The spring auction date is incorrect; it is listed as Tuesday, April 4 but the correct date is Saturday, March 4.
I'd like to thank
Mrs. Pattison, Mrs. Driscoll, Mrs. Kabadi and Mrs. McCarthy for coordinating and facilitating a beautiful Room Mother's Tea for our parent volunteers, yesterday, 9/12/15. We are so blessed to have such generous parents in our school community!
A reminder school pictures are scheduled for next week Wednesday, 9/21 and Thursday, 9/22. Middle school students are asked to wear their traditional uniforms for their pictures.
To our eighth grade parents, we are still finalizing a deal with the Testmasters Program to provide all interested eighth grade students with an opportunity to participate in the Testmasters High School Placement Test (HSPT) review course at a special price. This course has a proven reputation for offering quality test preparation products since 1991 and has helped many of our students perform at their best on this important assessment.
The HSPT review course is an on-line course. Students may watch the videos at home when their schedule permits. There are twelve instructional hours in math, twelve instructional hours in reading/writing and twelve hours that are devoted to sample testing. The course is being offered to St. Timothy students at the discounted rate of per student provided we can guarantee a minimum enrollment number. If you are interested in registering your child for this course, please contact Mrs. Rutledge. Once we have finalized the pricing, we will contact our 8th grade parents with the details and work with Testmasters to register your child so that students can start working on the course the last week in September.

Tuesday Tidbits Out Takes! (Hint, Mr. McLaughlin goes down the slide!) |
I am pleased to announce that our carpool process continues to improve daily. We have now stabilized or afternoon times, however, given that we are now into week three, I ask that all parents please not park and walk their children in. I ask that everyone please start using the formal drop off procedure in the morning, as it is much safer for students and their families. Thanks so much for your consideration and understanding.
If you are interested in participating on our school's technology committee, please contact the committee chair Mr. Rob Muskett at
rpmuskett@fcps.edu.
Mrs. Rutledge, Mr. Pryor and I will be discussing the topic of harassment, and all of its forms, with our 6th, 7th and 8th students next week. If you prefer that your child not participate in this session I ask that you please notify
Mrs. Moses by email;
kmoses@sainttimothyschool.org. We are mandated by the Arlington Diocese to share this information with the Middle School students each year.
Our aftercare program is in need of
gently used toys, games/puzzles (with all pieces) and children DVD's. Parents can drop them in the office with a note that says after care.
Thanks so much for your strong support of our amazing school. I greatly appreciate it!
God bless you,
Joseph M. McLaughlin,
Principal, Saint Timothy Catholic School
