Crossfire Ranch: Enjoy the spring weather out at Crossfire Ranch on Saturday, May 17th for the annual Picnic with the Ponies event from 11:00am–3:00pm at 5912 Nagel Road in Valders. Kids and adults of all ages are welcome! $8/person or $25/car in advance, $10/person or $35/car at the gate on the day of the event. Lincoln Park Zoological Society: Spring is in the air and so is the need to tidy up the Lincoln Park Zoo! If you’ve ever thought about getting involved with the zoo, then consider volunteering at our Spring Cleanup! On Saturday, May 3rd from 10:00am–2:00pm, we’ll be rolling up our sleeves to spruce up the entire zoo grounds and give the Education Center a makeover, inside and out. Manitowoc Public Library: MPL invites one-and-all to Comic Book Day 2025, a celebration of everything from the world of Comic Books and Comic Strips. This year’s festivities include special recognition of the 75th Anniversary of Charles Schulz’s Comic Strip Peanuts! Come dressed as your favorite Comic Book or Peanuts character, participate in fun activities, and receive a free comic book! LWV of Manitowoc County: "Our County without Immigrants: Myths, Facts, Resources": Thursday, May 1st, 6:00 to 8:00pm. First Lutheran Church, 521 N 8th St., Manitowoc. Information session for those concerned with the threats to immigrant neighbors and the impact on our economy. A panel of speakers will discuss federal policies and actions on immigration. Presented by The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Manitowoc County and RUTH, an interfaith justice group in Manitowoc County.

Wisconsin Maritime Museum: Join the Wisconsin Maritime Museum for Think & Drink on Thursday, May 1st at 6:30pm! Enjoy a drink and dive into Wisconsin’s glacial past with Dolly McNulty of the Ice Age Trail Alliance. She’ll explore the 1,200-mile Ice Age Trail, a natural wonder shaped over 12,000 years ago. Learn how this scenic footpath connects communities and preserves our geological heritage. Doors open at 6:00pm, presentation begins at 6:30pm. The event is free to attend, both in-person and virtually.

Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA: The public is welcome to attend HEALTHY KIDS DAY at the Y on Saturday, May 3rd, a day we celebrate by giving all children in our community an opportunity to participate. Enjoy the following activities between 9:00am and 12:00pm: Family Swim, Sensory, Fire and Police Vehicles, Obstacle Course & Gym Activities, Community Resources PLUS these 30 minute activities: Tae Kwon Do Demonstration (9:00am), Laugh Yoga (10:00am), Kids Dance Fitness (11:00am). Thank you to our local sponsor, Lakeside Foods!

Manitowoc Police Department: The annual bike auction will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 1145 Fleetwood Drive. Doors open at 8:00am for bidder registration and viewing of all auction items. The auction will begin at 9:00am. NO credit cards or debit cards are accepted. Payment by cash or Wisconsin check only. There will be bikes in various condition, light bars, tools and other misc. items. Bike registration will be available for $2 for a life time registration. See you there!

Lakeshore Wind Ensemble: Don’t miss the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble’s season finale, “An American Salute: Wisconsin Rhapsody” on Saturday, May 3rd at 7:30pm at the Capitol Civic Centre in Manitowoc! Under the direction of Jeremiah Eis, this patriotic concert celebrates musicians, composers, and musical selections related to our great state! Enjoy performances by guest vocalist David Bourgeois and guest pianist Dr. Justin Krueger, including Rhapsody in Blue, America the Beautiful, the title track for the WWII mini-series Masters of the Air, and more. Lester Public Library: Friday's LPL Flix is Green and Gold; watch it on our big screen at 1:00pm. Bilingual language classes resume May 7th: they're offered 6:00-7:30pm on Wednesdays through July 30th for English and Spanish speakers who want to learn or strengthen skills in the other language. Meet at the fireplace to watch a live webinar featuring Wisconsin author and gardening expert Melinda Myers 6:30pm, Wednesday, May 7th: Explore ways to save space, screen bad views, create privacy and even save energy with vertical gardening.

Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum: Exhibit Reception, "Kathleen O'Connell: Hand-Lettering as Creative Practice" Thursday, May 1st, 5:00–7:00pm. Join us at the museum to hear artist Kathleen O'Connell speak about her hand-lettering work currently on display in the gallery. Her exhibit comprises two wall installations of multiple pages, and a vitrine with 5 of her sketchbooks. There will also be a hands-on station where you can play with different drawing materials! Light refreshments will be served.

Lakeshore Ladies Disc Golf Corporation: Don't miss the excitement! Two Rivers Optimist Club: The Two Rivers High School Octagon club will be hosting their annual Spring Electronics Drive on Saturday, May 17th. This event will also host a free Shred Event sponsored by Fox Communities Credit Union. The event will be held in the parking lot of the J. E. Hamilton Community House at 1520 17th Street, from 9:00am to 1:00pm. All proceeds will be used by the Octagon Club for scholarships, Christmas Donations, Daycare Books, a bike for the Great Bike Give A-Way and other opportunities. United Way Manitowoc County is excited to announce the Nominees for the Volunteer Center’s first annual Impact Awards! This inspiring event celebrates the dedication and impact of volunteers who make a difference in Manitowoc County and recognizes volunteers in five award categories. The Impact Awards take place Thursday, May 29th, 7:15–9:00am at The Inn on Maritime Bay in Manitowoc. A $20 ticket provides you with attendance at the awards and a breakfast catered by Our Legacy Restaurant. The Safety Health and Wellness Committee: Company wide safety training is a requirement by OSHA and there are specific guidelines for industries on what training must be included. You can find these guidelines on https://www.osha.gov/training/library. There are a variety of ways to get this training to your employees, from monthly PowerPoints to in person. However your company provides this training, it must include an acknowledgement from the employee of the training received. Retain these records for 3 years from the date of training or for the full period of employment.
