Wisconsin Maritime Museum: Wisconsin Maritime Museum’s Think & Drink program welcomes Genna Kane, PhD, for “The Great Molasses Flood & Boston’s Waterfront” on August 6th, 2026. The presentation will begin at 6:30pm for this free public event. Kane explores the January 15th, 1919, disaster, when a ruptured molasses tank unleashed a deadly wave through Boston’s North End, killing 21 people, and examines how the tragedy reshaped building codes, safety regulations, and the city’s waterfront while highlighting community resilience.

United Way Manitowoc County: Help promote early childhood literacy in Manitowoc County by joining the Dolly Walk Fundraiser on Saturday, August 8th. Hosted by United Way Manitowoc County's Women United Action Team, this family-friendly 2-mile walk supports Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and its mission of providing free books to local children under age five. Manitowoc Public Library: Join MPL and Manitowoc Police Department for National Night Out at 6:00pm tonight, Tuesday, August 4th! Make your child an ID kit, learn about crime prevention and family safety, meet a police officer, watch a drone demonstration, see public safety vehicles, and meet K9 officers! National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police/community partnerships to create safer neighborhoods and caring places to live. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Kiwanis Club of Manitowoc: Join the Kiwanis Club of Manitowoc for the 44th Annual Car & Motorcycle Show on Sunday, August 9th, from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Washington Park in downtown Manitowoc. Enjoy free spectator admission, classic and modern vehicles, motorcycles, food, family activities, Lakeshore FIRST Robotics demonstrations, and a performance by the Manitowoc Marine Band. Vehicle registration begins at 8:00am. This long-standing community event supports Kiwanis efforts to serve local youth and families.
