Unity Hospice: Holidays are often difficult for people who have experienced the death of a loved one. The sounds, sights and smells of the holiday season may trigger feelings of sadness, loss, emptiness and anxiety. Traditionally being a time of family togetherness, sharing and thanksgiving, this season may bring feelings of loss different from what you experience in your daily routine. This is a common part of grieving during the holidays. We hope this support sheet from our Grief Services department provides guidance and support so you can find peace throughout the holiday season. For more resources, please visit: https://unityhospice.org/grief-support/.

HP Enterprises Christmas tree lot is up and running! Located on 30th and Dewey (across from Amoco) we have trees from 5ft-12ft. Come and find your Christmas tree for this holiday season. Our hours are Monday-Friday 11:00am-6:00pm and Saturday-Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm.

The Safety Health and Wellness Committee: Today I want to talk about something we don’t usually bring up on the job: your mental health. With shorter daylight and holiday expenses you can feel overwhelmed, hopeless, exhausted, short-tempered or just withdrawn from society. These feelings can hamper your ability to function safely and cause you to get hurt. There are people you can talk to for help, you are not alone. Check with your employer on how to use your Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Or call or text the 988 lifeline for assistance.

Mindful Moment: Holiday perfectionism steals joy faster than any actual mishap. The burned cookies, mismatched wrapping paper, or simplified menu won't ruin anyone's memory of this season, but your stress and exhaustion might. Give yourself permission to lower the bar: buy the pre-made appetizers, skip elaborate decorations, or say no to hosting altogether. The people who matter care about your presence, not your performance. When you release impossible standards, you create space for spontaneous laughter, meaningful conversations, and actual rest. Imperfect holidays filled with ease often become the ones everyone remembers most fondly.

Shady Lane Inc.: After 32 years of remarkable service, Administrator Todd Meerdink will retire on December 19th. Todd’s leadership, dedication, and steady presence have shaped the culture and quality of care that Shady Lane is known for today. We extend our deep appreciation for his decades of commitment to residents, families, and staff. Please join us in celebrating his legacy and wishing him all the best in retirement.

Manitowoc County Kennel Club would like to share this Holiday Reminder. Keep your pets safe this season by securing decorations, avoiding toxic plants like poinsettias, and keeping ornaments, tinsel, and small items out of reach. Ensure guests know doors must stay closed so pets don’t slip outside. Store holiday foods—especially chocolate, grapes, and anything seasoned with garlic or onions—where curious noses can’t reach. Create a quiet space for pets to relax away from noise and excitement. A little caution keeps the holidays joyful for everyone. Happy Howlidays!
