Wisconsin Maritime Museum: Join the Wisconsin Maritime Museum this Thursday for our next Think and Drink to hear the harrowing tale of the Eastland Disaster. On July 24th, 1915, the SS Eastland was docked in the Chicago River, filled with thousands of Western Electric employees headed for a company picnic, which resulted in the greatest loss of life in a single shipwreck in Great Lakes history. Doors open at 6:00pm with the FREE talk starting at 6:30pm.

Young Professionals of Manitowoc County: Volunteer + Connect: Beach Cleanup is a free community event on Saturday, May 16th, from 9:00 to 11:00am along the Manitowoc lakeshore. Participants will join the Young Professionals to clean a local beach, with the location shared in advance. Supplies are provided, and volunteers should dress for the weather. It’s a great opportunity to give back, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with others. Also, don’t miss the Serve + Connect: Volunteer Night at the Boys & Girls Club this Wednesday, May 6th, from 4:30–6:00pm, a quick, meaningful way to support local youth and meet fellow professionals.

Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will celebrate mom on May 9th with hands-on activities, demonstrations, a tea program, and free general admission for mom. A Mother’s Day tea will also take place at 1:00pm. Guests will be treated to an afternoon tea and program, centered on a fashion show through history, based off the dress and background of historic American Girls. Participants of all ages are welcome to bring their own dolls or stuffies. Tickets for Mother’s Day Tea include general admission for the day. BayCare Clinic: Join us Saturday, June 6th, 2026, for the BayCare Clinic Century, one of Northeast Wisconsin’s most popular cycling events. With 100-, 60-, 30-, and 15-mile routes, riders of all ages and abilities can enjoy a scenic Bayshore to Lakeshore journey from Green Bay to Lake Michigan and back. Starting and ending at BayCare Clinic Headquarters, this event supports local nonprofits through the BayCare Clinic Foundation. Patriot Riders of America WI Chapter 2: The 4th Annual Dennis J Murphy Memorial Ride/Cruise is June 6th and proceeds benefit Old Glory Honor Flight. The cost per Veteran to fly to Washington DC is $500. This trip gives our Veterans a chance to connect with each other and heal from their time in the service during WWII, Korea and the Vietnam War. Leadership Manitowoc County (LMC) is a community engagement program that brings together potential leaders who will be encouraged, motivated and prepared to assume more influential roles as leaders of Manitowoc County. Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Kristin Lampe, MSN, to its team. Kristen serves in the hospital’s Surgery Optimization and Coordination Center. The Center helps patients manage the steps of their surgical journey from decision through recovery. Participation in the program provides improved readiness for surgery, better surgical outcomes and reduced length of hospital stays. Patients preparing for surgery will be referred to Kristin by their physician.

The Safety Health and Wellness Committee: OSHA is proposing a change to Walking Working Surfaces 1910.28(b)(9)(i)(D). This standard now says until November 2036, cages may still be used as Fall Protection on fixed ladders of >24’. After this date all such ladders will have a personal fall arrest system on the ladder. OSHA proposes to remove the deadline. However, any modifications to the ladder and all new ladders will require PFAR systems. The proposal may be found Federal Registry # 2026-06578 (91 FR 17165). Submit comments to OSHA before 6/5/2026.
