Manitowoc Public Library: Want to improve your memory and concentration, or hone your logical thinking skills while having fun? Make a smart move—join us for Drop-In Chess Club at MPL from 6:00-7:30pm on Wednesday, November 5th! All abilities and ages (6-years plus, please) are welcome, but no formal instruction will be offered. Boards provided and library materials available for further learning. No registration required, but please remember that children under the age of 8 (even prodigies!) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County: Join The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County for the official Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff on Wednesday, November 26th at 5:00pm in the Farmers Market parking lot across from the Public Library, right before the Holiday Parade. This festive event will feature the debut of a giant 6-foot kettle, a demonstration of the new Tap to Give contactless donation option, and - health permitting - a special appearance by beloved community icon and longtime bell ringer Tom Drill. Celebrate the spirit of giving that makes Manitowoc shine all season long.

Young Professionals of Manitowoc County: Join us for a casual “Game Night with Kohler Credit Union” (200 N Rapids Rd, Manitowoc) on Tuesday, November 18th, from 5:00–7:00pm. Stop by anytime during the event to relax, enjoy some friendly competition, and connect with other local young professionals. Complimentary pizza will be provided for all attendees. Felician Village will host a Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair on Saturday, November 8th from 8:00am – 2:00pm at 1635 S. 21st Street, Manitowoc. This FREE event is open to the public. Crossfire Ranch: Give your youth/teen a Saturday to remember! Our Adventure Camps offer students in grades K–12 a fun and meaningful experience with a new theme each month. Join us on November 15th from 10:00am to 2:00pm as we celebrate friendships with humans and horses! This month, we’ll be discovering gratitude and sharing what we are most grateful for. Unity Hospice: To help support and guide those who may be facing the darkness of loss and grief this holiday season, Unity Grief and Education Center invites those who have experienced the death of a loved one to join us on Wednesday, December 3rd for our 11th Annual Honor a Life Holiday Gathering at National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, WI. This special program features reflection, music and holiday spirit. Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital invites you to join in its annual Love Light Tree tradition. Purchase lights on the tree in honor or memory of a loved one. Wisconsin Maritime Museum: Join us on November 6th at 6:30pm for our November Think & Drink at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, marking the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking. This free event features Ric Mixter, an award-winning Great Lakes historian, diver, and filmmaker, who will explore the devastating November storms that claimed countless ships. Drawing on survivor interviews, decades of research, and rare underwater footage, Ric brings these stories to life. 

League Womens Voters Manitowoc County: Vote with Grands, intergenerational discussions on democracy, will kick off Wednesday, November 5th, 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with a Trivia Night at the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA. The campaign aims to encourage voter registration and civic participation among younger voters through dialogue between generations. “Grands” includes grandparents, parents, grandkids, and all those connected intergenerationally or seeking such connections. The Trivia Night and future events are sponsored by the League of Women Voters – Manitowoc County, a non-partisan organization focusing on voter education. Trivia Night is open to the public and no registration is required. Snacks will be provided.

The Safety Health and Wellness Committee: Are you checking your portable fire extinguishers monthly and annually? If monthly your inspection should check that the extinguisher is in its designated place, clear of obstructions, pressure gauge is reading within the operable range, there is no damage or corrosion, the pin and seal are intact, the nozzle is not clogged, and they are located with appropriate signage. Remember monthly inspections do not replace the requirement for annual maintenance checks by trained professionals, who can provide you with the required documentation for OSHA.
