The next PTO meeting will be held on Sept. 15, 2017, at 8 a.m. in aftercare room and the first Pastor/Principal Coffee is also scheduled for Friday, 9/15 after Mass in the aftercare room.

Starting next week, Mrs. Rutledge and I will be discussing the topic of harassment, and all of its forms, with our 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students next week. If you prefer that your child not participate in this session, I ask that you please email Mrs. Moses.

I'd like to thank Mrs. Driscoll and Mrs. Pattison for all their work on our Wine and Cheese event and the welcome back coffee, thank you both so much for your efforts in making both events so successful. On behalf of our staff members who serve in carpool everyday, I'd like to thank Mrs. McClure for providing each staff member with a florescent vest and stop signs, to keep everyone safe and better control the traffic. Thanks again for your generosity Mrs. McClure!

A special word of thanks also to Mr. Pattison and Mr. Foster for presenting to our middle school science classes and sharing their knowledge of extremely interesting STEM based topics. These presentations are helping motivate our students to pursue various STEM experiments for this year's STEM Fair. We also appreciate both parents service to our school's Technology Committee.

A reminder that students will be participating in the first round of their Scantron standardized testing, starting next week. We will be sharing the results with you after the three week testing window has closed.

We are currently working on the annual parent directory and would like to know if you prefer to have your contact information left out of this year's directory. If you prefer to keep your information out the directory, I ask that you please contact Mrs. Tara Irons @

Thanks to all of our parents who have sent wonderful ideas on how we can help the hurricane victims in Houston. Our Service Committee is currently evaluating all of the great ideas and will be communicating our plans to help the victims in next week's Tuesday Tidbits.
The High School Placement Test is required for all students who plan to attend a Diocesan high school. It is part of the admission process, and the results are used to place students in their courses as freshmen. This year the test is on November 30, and is given here at STS.  For several years, we have partnered with Test masters to provide an online HSPT prep course. Through this arrangement, St. Timothy School students are given a discount for a course that prepares students for success on the HSPT.  If you are interested in learning more about the course and signing up, please contact Mrs. Rutledge
S aint Timothy Catholic School remains committed to providing our students with an individualized, supportive, faith based learning environment. I greatly appreciate your active support of our wonderful school.

As always I welcome your comments, questions and suggestions.
God Bless You,
Mr. Joseph M. McLaughlin

We look forward to taking good care of your children.  Please remember to submit a VA School Health Assessment for all new students and a Confidential Student Health History Update for all returning students.

Medications :  If your student requires medication (i.e. EpiPen, inhaler, etc,), a parent must bring the medication to the health clinic along with all completed medication forms. Specific medication forms can be found on our school website under Nurse's Notes.  Please bring medications to the clinic as soon as possible.

Permission for Emergency Care:  Please access the Parental Portal on Power School to complete your child's permission for emergency care. It is located at the very bottom of the Demographic Page, right after the Date of Last Tetanus Shot.  It is important to have your consent (Yes/No) in case of an emergency.

New Saint Timothy School Volunteer Program
The one place to sign up and log your hours!

You asked for it and we have delivered! We have streamlined our Volunteer Program  for the upcoming school year.

Thank you to everyone who has already created an account and logged hours on our new Volunteer Program website. Please take a look at the event calendar as we have both Virtus and Non-Virtus opportunities to help with the Race for Education, Original Works, Cafeteria, and the Room Mother's Tea.

We hope that that these changes help make it easier to communicate volunteer opportunities, for parents to find opportunities that work in their schedule, and for families to log and track their volunteer hours!
  • We will no longer be using a Points for Parents program, and will move to a Volunteer Hours Program - 12 hours are still needed to fulfill your Volunteer Program Requirement (6 hours for preschool only families).
  • We will be adding more opportunities that haven't been available in the past to help earn your hours.  For example, coaching an STS sports team can now earn you half or all of your total hours for the year.
  • If you have any questions about volunteering or how to create an account on Track it Forward please feel free to reach out to Carrie Ladowicz.

Do not miss this amazing opportunity to work with professional photographer Greg Piper!!!
Mr. Piper will be sharing his love of photography with students in 5th-8th grade. He will be working with students to learn the various elements of photography such as camera operation, lighting, and post productions inside the classroom as well as taking students out on weekend field trip photography shoots! The club will need a commitment of 1-2  evening classroom club meetings a month as well as a few field trip photography shoots. We will be visiting local to parks, monuments, and churches! Visit our signup page for more details
