Cycles of Inquiry Year End Graduation Celebrations
During the 2018 – 2019 school year, select schools and school districts participated in the Education Innovation and Research (EIR) Grant and Supporting Effective Educator Development Grant (SEED) projects.

From October through May, school teams met six times with trained ROE service providers to study the Cycles of Inquiry, based on the work of Dr. Shelby Cosner.

The ROE was the recipient of a multi-year grant which provided funding for the program.

Pictured are the graduates, ROE service providers, program coordinator, Dr. Gail Fahey and Dr. Darlene Ruscitti.
Members of Instructional Leadership Teams from Glen Ellyn School District 41 completed six planning sessions which focused on practical applications for implementing Cycles of Inquiry.

Facilitated by Maggie Brewner, DROE Service Provider, the principals and their team members collaborated on finding root causes of student learning problems using data analysis, instructional walk-throughs and incorporating student voice. During the final session (pictured left and below), teams celebrated and shared each school’s progress which included: improving team effectiveness, making “root cause” part of their common language, establishing a school culture of instructional inquiry, and maintaining a focus on improving instructional practices.

District 41 schools participating included Abraham Lincoln, Ben Franklin, Churchill, Forest Glen and Hadley.
