National Board Certification Fee Subsidy Application Deadline, May 12
National Board Certification Host Site at the DuPage ROE
The DuPage Regional Office of Education is pleased to announce its availability to be a cohort host site for Illinois teachers wishing to pursue their National Board Certification during the 2019 – 2020 school year.

The National Board Resource Center (NBRC) at Illinois State University (ISU) is accepting candidates until May 12 at midnight. There is a $75 application fee and once accepted, a subsidy provided by NBRC ISU will cover the cost of the entire certification. Click on the link below for subsidy registration information. Illinois State Board of Education's (ISBE) Listening Tour, May 16
The DuPage Regional Office of Education is the first stop on the Illinois State Board of Education’s Support and Accountability Listening Tour. The event will take place on May 16 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the first-floor auditorium at 421 N County Farm Road. According to a press release from ISBE, "the feedback gathered on this tour will inform an amendment to the Illinois Every Student Succeeds Act Plan and improve Illinois’ approach to measuring and supporting school performance."

Leading Future Ready Schools
On May 21, the DuPage Regional Office of Education will host a Future Ready Schools (FRS) workshop. This networking academy is designed for individuals and teams. Click here to register.

FRS is a bold effort to maximize digital learning opportunities and help school districts move quickly toward preparing students for success in college, a career and citizenship. Participants will engage with the program fundamentals and FREE tools to determine the best fit for their leadership style in order to meet the needs of their district. This workshop is designed to support participants in any phase of the program, from investigation to full district adoption. Individuals and building/district teams are welcome to attend.
Developing Emergency Operations Plans (EOP) K-12 Train-the-Trainer, May 22
An overview of recommended planning processes and key considerations for creating, revising, or enhancing school emergency operations plans (school EOPs) 
This course presents Federal guidance on school emergency management planning, including the recommended six step planning process to create a high-quality school EOP. This planning process is designed to help schools develop a plan, conduct a comprehensive review of their entire plan, or conduct periodic & incremental reviews of plan components. Photo: On May 6, educators attended an academy to delve deep into the characteristics of effective leadership. The workshop, "What Can Be Learned from Great Business, Military, Political, Social, and Sports Leaders," was led by Don Kachur and will be offered again on June 5.
Initial Teacher Evaluator Training (#AA2001)
June 6 - 7, June 13 - 14, July 17 - 18, July 30 - 31, August 6 - 7, August 13 - 14
The DuPage Regional Office of Education is pleased to announce the new Teacher Evaluator Training which replaces the former Growth Through Learning modules. Upon completion of the two-day training, presented by Dr. Catherine Berning and Ms. Jill Bullo, participants will be legally qualified to conduct evaluations of licensed personnel. Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP), July 22-24

The DuPage Regional Office of Education is pleased to announce a summer SIOP class to be offered July 22 - 24. SIOP is an ISBE approved, research-based training designed to assist mainstream classroom teachers in working with English learners. This sheltered language approach supports English learners’ academic progress in content area subjects while enabling them to acquire and strengthen their skills toward greater English language proficiency. Spring and Summer Events to Support Advanced Learners

TIDE Course: Curriculum and Instruction for Gifted and Talented Students, May 13 - July 8
This blended course, offered for graduate credit through the University of St. Francis, will meet at Naperville Central High School from 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on May 13, June 3 and June 24. Click here for more information.

Gifted Education Seminar, June 10 - August 2
The ISBE Gifted Education Seminar provides an overview of the academic and affective needs of gifted learners as well as strategies and resources for support. This session is offered as an online independent study. Participants earn 45 hours of PD credit. Click here for details.

The Administrator Academy (AA) is a process by which local school administrators meet legislated requirements for continuous professional development.  Unless noted, all Administrator Academies will take place at the Center for Professional Learning (CPL) located at 505 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.

Please note that ISBE Retraining Academies needed for Teacher/Principal Evaluators are included in the attached listing.


Director of Special Education Program
TIDE is offering this new endorsement program with Lewis University. It is designed for an individual with a LBS1 license as well as an administrator endorsement. The courses required for the program can be completed within one term. This endorsement cohort is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2019 and will be completed by winter break. Social and Emotional Learning Leadership Network
Cristina Salgado, Student Voice Specialist from Chicago Public Schools, presented during the May 6 Social and Emotional Learning Leadership Network. Cristina shared how engaging students in the decision making process can have a tremendous impact in building a healthy school climate.
