DuPage County Students Volunteer at Feed My Starving Children
On Wednesday, November 7, students enrolled at Partners for Success volunteered at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Schaumburg. Student sorted, measured and packed meals for needy children in developing countries. The annual field trip allows students to team build while making a global impact by volunteering.

KIDS Virtual Professional Learning Community (PLC), November 29 and December 6
The DuPage Regional Office of Education, in partnership with the Illinois State Board of Education KIDS Coach, is pleased to launch PLCs to build background on the Illinois KIDS Assessment. CASEL has released a new SEL assessment guide from The Assessment Work Group (AWG). The online resource can be found here * and features 23 assessments currently in use and examples of how they are being used. *Please note that supplying contact information is required to receive the guide.

In this workshop participants will build their understanding of the storyline design and structure, examine the role of phenomena within the storyline design and evaluate NGSS-alignment of currently used storylines, or those being developed. Click here for more information.

Investigating Developmentally Appropriate Practice and Play-Based Instruction in Kindergarten and the Primary Grades, December 6
An introductory workshop is being offered in DuPage County to deepen understanding and implementation of developmentally appropriate practice from birth to third grade to improve student outcomes. The focus is on kindergarten and the primary grades. Click here for information.

Assessment and the NGSS: How to Assess Three-dimensional Learning, January 29
In this workshop, participants will:
  • build their understanding of three-dimensional assessment through application of the Next Generation Science Standards;
  • obtain greater knowledge of three-dimensional assessment that will support more effective assessment methods to better understand the level at which their students are understanding science concepts; and
  • engage in tasks that will help them identify the three-dimensions within an assessment and how they are used together to assess conceptual understanding.

Workshop Series: Program Models That Support High-Ability Learners
One-size-fits-all approaches to identifying and serving gifted students are increasingly poor fits for schools with growing diversity. Contemporary views of gifted education and talent development recognize that ability is multifaceted and malleable and that “gifted students” are extremely diverse in their backgrounds and learning needs.Plan to attend one or more of the upcoming workshops highlighted on the attached flier to learn more. The Administrator Academy (AA) is a process by which local school administrators meet legislated requirements for continuous professional development.  Unless noted, all Administrator Academies will take place at the Center for Professional Learning (CPL) located at 505 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.

Please note that ISBE Retraining Academies needed for Teacher/Principal Evaluators are included in the attached listing.
Teacher In Service for DuPage Educators (TIDE) Fall sessions are now open. New cohorts include Reading, Early Childhood, LBS1 (Wheaton and Lisle locations), technology and ESL. Also available are two new Climate Change courses designed to build upon the understanding in the content area of ELA/SCIENCE/RESEARCH around Climate Change.
