Teaching the Holocaust, Empowering Students
A nationwide survey released last month shows that among Millennials and GenZ, 63 percent did not know 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust. In order to keep the lessons learned from that awful time in history intact, teaching about it is crucial. In this course, participants will explore and gain access to a range of classroom content and consider instructional enhancements to support students’ study and reflection of the history of the Holocaust and its meaning in the world today. Educators will enhance their own knowledge about the Holocaust, including the history of antisemitism, and build confidence and capacity to teach this complex subject. Motivating and Managing Hard-to-Reach, Uninterested, and Disruptive Students
October 28 via Zoom
During this training, you will discover what it means, from a kid's perspective, to be labeled as a special education student, and the six reasons students misbehave. You will learn how to defuse behaviors and utilize social emotional learning methods that model respect and promote responsible decision making. For more information, click here.

Early Childhood New Teacher Program (DuPage ROE and STARTNET)
As the number of EC new hires is usually a small number in each district, the EC Network Steering Team thought that it would be beneficial to bring EC teacher new hires from across the county together to share professional development in some common areas such as curriculum, instruction, classroom setup, play-based instruction, SEL, etc. In this program design, the ROE would work in partnership with STARNET to offer professional development sessions. There will be no registration cost. We have a small group of educators interested in starting, but are hopeful to add a few more. "Achieving Equity in Advanced Academic Programming"
This network will highlight equity and access to advanced academic programming. April Wells, Gifted Coordinator, U-46 and the author of Achieving Equity in Gifted Programming: Dismantling Barriers and Tapping Potential, will join us for a segment of our meeting time.
"Identification and Programming for Advanced Academics during Hybrid and Remote Learning"
This network session provides an opportunity to collaboratively consider and share revised processes to determine placement in advanced academic programming as well as current strategies for providing services during hybrid and remote learning.
