The U.S. Department of Transportation has released the FY2026 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program, offering nearly $1 billion in funding to support regional, local, and Tribal efforts to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries.

Two grant types are available: Planning and Demonstration Grants to develop or enhance Action Plans, and Implementation Grants to carry out projects aligned with existing plans.

Applications are due May 26, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. CT

National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is a nationwide campaign held each spring to promote safe driving through roadway work zones and protect both workers and the traveling public.

NWZAW will take place April 20–24, featuring daily events like Go Orange Day and a national kickoff hosted by the Connecticut DOT, all centered on the theme “Safe Actions Save Lives.”

Organizations and individuals are encouraged to participate and help raise awareness about the importance of slowing down and staying alert in work zones.
